Four developers have entered sealed bids to buy more than 500 acres of former Geauga Lake amusement park property in southwest Geauga County and northwest Portage County.

All of the offers come from "significant" local developers interested in building mixed-use projects on Cedar Fair Entertainment Co.'s property, said Cliff West, managing director of land development services at Colliers-Ostendorf Morris brokerage firm in Cleveland. He said the developers did not want to be publicly identified.

Cedar Fair tapped Colliers late last year to market the property after deciding to make Geauga Lake a water park only. Many of the park's rides have been dismantled and moved to other Cedar Fair parks.

The deadline for sealed bids was Friday. The brokerage firm will begin reviewing the offers today, considering the price, terms and development plans of each bidder. Cedar Fair has the right to reject all offers.
