Having looked at pictures of the Kingda Ka, mostly of shots looking down upon the twisting coaster track from up high, I've just about psyched myself up for riding it - but pictures of the rotating swing-out seats on top of the Stratosphere tower scare me! I'm not sure I'm up for being swung around in mid air from that high up !!!

So, what's ride scare's you the most?

A strange one for me, the waterchute that used to be at BPB.

Although I loved the ride it did scare me going down the drop and things being silent underneath the car.

Ghost trains and haunted walk throughs use to absolutely terrify me to the point I'd avoid them. However 5 years of going on them with Stormforce using her evil sinister scare tactics have all but cured me. I now quite enjoy them.

Insanity on the top of the Stratosphere tower was a scary ride but I didn't hesitate to get on it, it was a few seconds before I let go though.

But the one ride that does still terrify to the point I will avoid them is a wooden Helta Skelta. After reading about a horrific accident about 20 years ago you won't get me on one for love nor money.

Hail All! Twisted Evil
Talking specifically of the Stratosphere Tower for a moment, I've only been up there once and - Being more a fan of coasters and shot/drop rides than spin & spews - I used both of my ride tickets having two goes on Big Shot! Rolling EyesVery Happy

I wasn't too frightened (Maybe a little nervous) at the idea of riding Insanity, but the only ride in the World that I'm too nervous to try is on the other side of the tower, and that's X-Scream. ShockedEmbarassedLaughing
I know some people might find Insanity more frightening a ride and I know that American safety standards are almost as good as our own...But it's the Engineering-part of me that's causing the fear, and saying "Aye, the thing has got plenty of safety devices on it...But what were to happen if they all failed at once?" ShockedEmbarassedConfused

Oh, and does anyone agree with me that the Stratosphere really ought to build a few Intamin giant drops (Stand-up and sit-down; A bit like Apocalypse) down the side of the tower itself? Now THAT would probabally be the most fun way to get brown trowsers! LaughingVery HappyTwisted Evil

Farewell... Cool

I get freaked out by open stairs going up things, like the stairs on depth charge, the stairs on helter skelters etc.

The rides are fine.

I hated X at Magic Mountain.  I was scared stiff and really thought I was going to fall out of it.

I always find the first ride of the day on Apocalypse slightly un-nerving.  Still love it, though.

I don't know what you mean Magic ...  Wink

My personal best ... I managed to scare one of the Haunted Walk Through actors at Europa Park by creeping up behind them! Whoah-ha-ha!!!

Sky Coasters always get my heart racing, especially on the pull up!

That 300ft one in Florida got me panicking though....not the height, but the fact I couldn't find the ripcord!

I was up there 2 minutes before I found it!

David.
