I was really disappointed that I could not come to Loopathon this year, especially after having such a great time with you guys at Flamingoland, however, I simply could not get time off work, which was an extreme pain.

So instead, since I already had time off booked in September, I decided to go to Alton Towers on my own.

I arrived on Tuesday morning, I was one of the first to arrive, and the car parks were empty. I did find a queue for the monorail though; we were standing there for about twenty minutes, when an announcement said that the monorail had broken down! I just remember thinking about how Alton Towers have not had a lot of luck with transport rides of late.

After walking round to the main entrance (quite a distance, I might add) the monorail started working again, just my luck!

My first ride of the day was Nemesis, I arrived there about fifteen minutes before the ride opened, and was first in the queue! I had three rides, and then headed towards oblivion.

When I arrived in the “X-Sector” to ride Oblivion, I noticed Enterprise, I decided to ride that first. To my surprise, somebody had put graffiti on the roof of the car! I am surprised that this had happened.

I then went on Oblivion a few times, and then headed towards Rita.

I found it quite amusing when a little girl called the ride “Bolivion” and was quickly corrected by her parents!

I had never been on Rita before; I did not think it was as good as the other rides, quite a disappointment actually.

I did however get a look at the old corkscrew site.

And after some more exploring, I found the site of the Skyride fire, looks quite horrific!

Overall a good day was had.

We were there on bank holiday Monday and there appeared to be issues with the monorail then too, we queued quite some time on our way back to the car park.

Generally, even for a bank holiday, the park was very quiet with Nemesis queue being less than 5 minutes, the same with Oblivion. Air and RITA were about 20 minute queues. A lot of the other rides were just walk on.

Even with the skyride being down due to the major fire, we enjoyed our walk around the gardens even finding a few routes we didn't know about.

That's interesting, as there seemed to be a lot of people in the park on Tuesday and Wednesday, and in my experience, AIR always has really long queue times.

It's still a good ride though.
