And as a special bonus, I have arranged special discounted entry into Lighwater Valley on Sunday 5th for just £11.95 (thats a saving on £7 on their normal entry).  You will get the voucher from me at Flamongland on the Saturday.Andy

A little late for me as I purchased a ticket a while ago - never mind it's great for other members.

...and where is Flamongland?

Still hoping to go, but not sure if there is decent accommodation left...not interested in camping...can anyone recommend a convenient B&B / Hotel that they have used before that is close (ish) to Flamingoland?

Cheers,

David.

You may be better off trying for a hotel/motel in Leeds or York. Good for traveling to both parks. Me, Vicci and Smiler are in a motel in the sevices outside York/Leeds area. £29 per room per night.

I've no personal recommendations - I live too close to both parks to need accommodation Wink

Flamingoland is near Pickering, in North Yorkshire.

York is certainly in reasonable travelling distance of both parks, although the A64 into York when returning from Flamingoland often gets congested.

I would suggest looking for accommodation near Thirsk / North Allerton / Leaming Bar.  Ripon and Harrogate are also possibilities, although maybe a bit far from Flamingoland.

I hope this helps - feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

Peter

We can only make the Saturday, hence why looking for something closer to Flamingoland, rather than convenient for both. Have tried one or two B&Bs but no luck so far.

Susan is on the case as I am at work all day, so maybe she might find something...it's too far to do comfortably in one day, being the best part of 5 hours each way.

David.

hi

Just received this email from alternative club

"also have this from the park, for anyone that's free on the 4th:

"
On Saturday the 4th at 2:30p.m. we will officially be judged to have broken
the world record, a number of competition winners will then get to take part
in this momentous first record breaking run.  Once this is complete however,
we'd like to extend an offer to you all for an exclusive ride on the coaster
before we open to the public.  We will run an exclusive ride time from 3:30
- 4:00 pm access to which will be solely for yourselves.  To gain entrance
you will need a ride exit pass detailing the number in your group, ask for
either myself or Vinny Watson on the day at the admissions gates, bringing
proof of your affiliation with a group of some kind, and state your numbers
and we will issue you a pass.  You will need to arrive at the ride together
as a result.
"

So hopefully a fair few of you can make it over for this.

Enjoy.  Smile

Email all soon,

Justin.

Does this mean that we will be sharing our ERS?

The Flamingoland website suggests that there were competition winners who will ride it first at 2.30pm.

What that does mean, however, is that the planned first rides of the day on it (as per the trip invite) when the park opens won't be happening, as I guess the ride will be closed until 2.30pm, and then open exclusively for "groups" until 4pm which I assume is when the public get to ride it.

I know we have an ERS on it (yippee) at 6pm (ish), but will the group invite at 3.30pm be open to the RCCGB too? Just a bit puzzled what the park's announcement actually means!

David.

Clarification on Saturday:

Enthusiasts (belonging to recognised Clubs) can pay entry (normal price) on July 4th and at 3.30pm enjoy a 30 minute ERS on Mumbo Jumbo.

However RCCGB members - will gain entry via the Club deal (which you have already paid for), be able to take part in the 3.30pm ERS and ALSO in our own ERS after the park closes.

Obviously as the ride is now not opening until the afternoon, upon entry we will head to Velocity for the first ride of the day.

Hope that clears everything up!

Very Happy

Thanks Nev for that announcement, I'll head for Velocity on arrival.

Thanks also for the trip badge and details I received Thursday.  I'm doing the Summer Bash as part of a four night holiday in York, i.e. travelling up Thursday, staying Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, then returning to Bath Monday evening.  Unfortunately I think Lightwater Valley will be a tad long winded on public transport Sunday 5 July.

For those couster counting people out there then heres a few things to remeber. There is now only one coaster at Bridlington not 3 as states on coaster count and the one at Primrose valley holiday park near Filey has now gone due to the park selling the land to built a play area on it. That also says that the ride is still there. Does anyone no any updates on the the times etc for the ride opening to public ERS etc.

Hi... congrats on your first trip.

There's nothing to be aware of at all, just turn up and have fun. We are all a friendly bunch, so don't hesitate to ask questions of people if you need to.

Andy Hine (Nev) usually does an introduction before we enter the park, and will point out people that are able to help you etc.

I am sure you won't be the only person on their first trip, So welcome aboard, and have a great time !

I'm not worried, I just have a few questions:

I noticed that on some of the other trip photos, everyone is wearing trip t-shirts and the like, will those be available for this trip?

Do we meet outside the main entrance, and is there a specified spot?

And will the "behind the scenes" thing be going ahead?

Oh, and do we yet know how many of us will be attending?

Thanks!

Hi again - to answer your questions.....

Coaster T-shirts are not mandatory, we all buy these things when we are out on our travels (too many on USA trips LOL), so you get large collections of coaster related t-shirts on these trips. There's no official trip t-shirt, they are only produced for long USA trips. If you see RCCGB t-shirts, jackets and other club merchandise, these can be purchased from a sales stand at 2 events of the year which are Blackpool in April, and Loopathon in October.

Yes, we meet outside the main entrance at 09:30. There is no specific spot, we just gather in a large group - you won't miss us.

The behind the scenes thing is a mystery, and been left as a special surprise I think, so the only one who knows is the one organising it - so you'll have to wait until the day to find out.

And finally, not sure how may people will attend, i'd say based on previous trips this year, it could be in the region of 200+, especially as Lightwater Valley is not far away, and alot of members are doing that on sunday (not officially organised - just turn up) to extend the coastering weekend.

I hope this helps!

Just a quick question everyone

Was wondering if anyone staying in the Malton area has two spaces in their car free? From the train station to the park

Would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I'm just setting off from London so hope you al have a safe journey and I look forward to seeing you in the morning.  If you arrive late, your park ticket will be at the Coach Ticket desk.

ERS may start a bit later now - maybe 6.30pm(ish). - operational reasons!

Andy
