David have you got any photos of how you were chained up. I'm intrigued to know in what way you were restrained, finding it hard ot picture. If you had lots of chains around you did you not have problems with them being whipped around and hitting you whilst the train was in motion?

Do you plan to do anymore stunts involving roller coasters. Perhaps recreate Lance Burton's escape from the tracks of Desperado in Las Vegas using the PMBO.

Hi Marcus

I should be able to post photos in a day or two, there were several cameramen at the ride station, and quite a few more on the overpass. I am just waiting for copies. I was also accompanied by a full camera crew, which included in-ride cameras. Can't say when and where that footage will be released though.

Though I didn't know the actual brands of cuffs, padlocks etc that were to be used, I was aware of the more general details, enough to plan the stunt with basically zero risk of injury to either myself, others or the ride itself. The stunt didn't leave a scratch on the ride, and the worst I came away with was a stiff neck since I had to hold my head forwards hard even while passing through the Heavy- Light - Heavy - Light (due to the sudden G changes) sections of the ride> That, and a sore, 'gentlemans part', (the one on the right!) due to getting it hit with a padlock Rolling Eyes

The stunt would never have gone ahead without stringent safety planning. No guarantee I was going to succeed, but failure would have brought embarrassment, not damage.

I doubt that any coaster in the world would allow a recreation of Burton's stunt. Though I would be willing to try it. You should know though that it is a particular annoyance to me, since it was 100% fake. It's a blue screen special effects job. If you watch the video carefully you will see.

Look forward to seeing the photos. So you didn't use Electronic Release or a Siberian Chain then. It must have been a really tricky escape given the vibration and movement forcing your body in all sorts of directions.

As a video editor (with effects experience) a lot of things about the Lance Burton stunt just didn't look quite right, some of the colours and shadows didn't add up, plus of course the edited sequence of the train going round was in the wrong order. During the club trip to Buffalo Bills we got chatting to one of the staff there about Lance Burton and it was confirmed to us that he wasn't on the track at the same time as the train, everything was safely locked off and powered down. I appreciate it was an illusion but I do not approve of illusions using TV effects, magic is down to someones skill and ingenuity.
