The pleasure beach has invested into 3 land trains. The trains look a tad second hand I could be wrong. Todays daily mirror was advertising for the land train drivers at £6.50 a hour. What does everyone think? Pic here

Maybe in answer to the closure of the southern entrance to the pleasure beach? I know some people are not impressed by having to walk to the north entrance.
And what is the current status of the entrance from near pleasure beach rail station? They could be to run a shuttle service to the main entrance.
Or possibly they intend to build on the existing car parks, and the land trains will be used to shuttle people between new remote car parks and the pleasure beach.
Extremely unlikely they will be used within the pleasure beach. After all, all previous transport systems have been discontinued. (Cable cars gone, monorail station at main entrance gone, and south station on Pleasure Beach Express out of use)
The first picture definitely seems to show a second hand German land train. _________________ Now counting my coasters at http://www.coastercounter.com/bradpeet - which even has the snails |

Well - no mystery now.
PLEASURE BEACH LAUNCHES NEW LAND TRAINS!
22/07/2008
All aboard – the next service to Pleasure Beach is now departing from all central corridor car parks!
The UK’s favourite tourist attraction has a fun new way of getting to the Pleasure Beach from the towns many car parks thanks to the parks new fleet of land trains.
Imported from Germany, the three trains shuttle visitors from the Central Corridor car parks to the 42-acre Pleasure Beach and back again.
Each train has a drivers unit and two enclosed carriages protecting passengers from the elements.
Between one and three trains run each day offering services up to every five minutes from the Central Corridor car park stops.
Prices for the new service are £2 one way and £3 return for adults whilst children ride for £1.50 one way and £2 return. Tickets can be bought from conductors who ride with the train.

From our point of view, they are an absolute pain in the backside. They go up and down our street and slow the traffic down to a crawl. They seem to serve no useful purpose as the seem to go by with only 1 or 2 people on them each time. Another bright idea...just like the £5 charge! _________________ John & Jane, Langroyd Hotel, Blackpool. Member #2455 |

^I did notice that myself that there were not many people on them at all. Maybe they are just on hire for the rest of the season to see how it goes.
I have read on the BPB guide that some business people on the front are non too happy at the thought of people destined for BPB sailing straight past them on the land trains rather than being tempted to buy something. _________________

I'm not sure they can run them on German Number plates either... Unless they are only here on holiday...!! _________________ RCCGB Member 392 |
