And supported by a band called Medicine. That was the first time I'd ever seen someone throw a guitar across the stage It sounded amazing.

Ye mention sitting? All of the gigs that I've been to have been standing room only, with the exception of any bar areas! Razz

And I have to say, if there had been seating at the gig that I went to last night (BAL-SAGOTH/Battlelore at Klubi in Turku, Finland) it would have been pure pandaemonium - That venue was far too small for a BAL-SAGOTH Ritual! Shocked

Farewell... Twisted Evil

The better class of 'gig' do tend to have seats.
We are not all prone to ripping up seats and causing chaos.

We are off to see Steve Reich And Kraftwerk Revisited on Saturday, and as Taylor is using Steve as part of her GCSE study ... it should be a good night all around.  Very Happy

Beg your pardon sir, but that is a complete stereotype! ShockedLaughingSmile
Most of us Metalheads do have a respect for property etc, and as a general rule we behave more than reasonably. Sometimes we might scribble something witty and amusing in the bogs, but only if there is already graffitti in there and the loo looks run-down beforehand! Cool
The main reason our gigs are standing room only is because - For the most part - We prefer to stand. Besides, trying to "headbang" or play air-guitar in a stadium seat is very difficult! Razz

Back top stereotypes: Ye should have seen the number of surprised looks that I got yesterday when I offered my seat on the tram to a senior citizen who'd just got on. Bear in mind that I was in my usual sleeveless shirt with my 1/2" spiked bracers on, and most people probabally thought that I'd be the last person to offer up his seat! Very HappyTwisted Evil

On the other hand, I will add that some Metalheads in large groups (Over 500 people) do seem to exhibit chav-like behavior, most notably at Wacken Open Air. I havn't got an explanation for this, but I suppose that it could be a part of human nature... Confused

Firstly I'm not 'Sir', I am - in the context you used - 'Madam'

And secondly ... Yes I agree I did use a stereotype, however, I was trying to illustrate the point that there are all sorts of 'music gigs' and not all of them are for people who want to 'headbang', play air guitar or dance, or even consider it acceptable to write on the walls in the toilets.

It is horses for courses - certain bands play in certain venues, because it suits the types of audiences that they attract.
Now, you wouldn't expect an audience member for a concert of the BSO to stand and headbang through a Beethoven Symphony would you?

We are certainly going to have 'seats' for the Steve Reich concert on Saturday - or I'd be sitting on the floor, as I couldn't stand that long these days  Laughing  Laughing

Ooops...Sorry about that! EmbarassedLaughing
I generally use peoples usernames as an indication of their gender, mainly because - As ye all know - I'm completely hopeless at remembering anything about anyone! Rolling EyesLaughing
This has derailed me in the past though as I keep thinking that Auntie Murial is female (Because of their name), but IIRC that user is actually male! ShockedVery Happy

Ah, apologies...I mis-interpereted the tone of your original post, didn't I? Embarassed

Michael Jackson carried his Pipes of Piece album with the two duets, including Say Say Say.
John Lennon, Legend! Carried the Beetles.
This guy is so pants, why would they wast an award on him?

Sir Paul changed more than a generation. With Lennon he changed the face of popular music, as we know it,  forever. How many people can you say that about.
