The river of life seldom runs smooth, the ripples of dicontent lap against the banks of our fortitude, gently eroding the very same banks. But fear not, for you are nearley at journey's end and as you navigate your way through the muddy waters of lifes river and as the heaving waters subside, you will arrive upon a serenity and stillness and drift in the warmth of the summers shimering heat towards the shades of the forests deep. And as you wander, barefoot amongst the loam and windblown leaves which make up the soft woodland carpet, the summer breeze caressing your hair, you will be at peace. And when you have absorbed all the beauty that is the lush green woodland you will stand by the rivers edge watching otters at play and kingfishers diving for their unsuspecting prey...it is then and only then when you have reached the pinnacle of your inner peace that you will think to yourself...................My God, I am off to the USA in a couple of days...what am I? ...I'm Koaster Krazy

Word of warning for Six Flags parks you can no longer take anything on to the ride platform that won't fit in your pocket. So no leaving ,caps, jumpers, fanny packs, camera bags etc. on the platform. Anything that won't fit in a pocket must go in a pay extra locker before you join the queue. This rule is being strictly enforced. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

Just been looking at the weather for the various places we're going and it seems we can expect between 30 and 38 degrees C.
Good job we'll have the wind in our faces on the coasters isn't it. |

A day of Six Flags moments would be a better description. At least you'll get it out the way early and head to proper parks like Knoebels and Cedar Point. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

Also on Marcus advice I have a new pair of shorts with zip pockets so no bum bag on the first day for me. _________________ Memeber of the 08 Top Thrill Rollback Club + Member of the "First to be denied SAW by Technical Failure" club.

How stupid can 6 Flags get. Items can fall out of pockets easily but in a bum bag they are secure. Another way to get money from the public. _________________ Regards

Hmm, camera and wallet in zip pockets. shouldn't think I'll need anything else. My cap can stay in my bag on the minibus it's not like I have a bald head that will be easily burnt anyway.
Myself and bradpeet will, all being well be in London for about 16:00 tomorrow. A couple of hours to sling our stuff in the hotel and get something to eat and I should imagine we'll be looking for something to do for the evening.
I will anyway, can't speak for Pete.
So, is anyone having a little get together in London tomorrow night and if so, where be it? If not might go catch Indiana Jones or something. |

I'm open to suggestion I certainly have no intention to just sit in a room at a Travelodge. Tom failed to mention that we are staying in Feltham though - I've been there once before and know it's not the most exciting of places lol. He should be ok for Indiana Jones though, there is a decent enough cinema in walking distance. Just a shame that I saw the film last week. |

Plus i`m gonna miss Meeeep isn't it. Think i should pack soon haha.
Leaving tomorrow night, right then! lol
Passport? Think i still have one? Name badge? lmao

Oh and on Kingda Ka some signs say you can not have anything in your pockets either, whether they zip or not. Absolutely every item you are not wearing or have physically attached to your body must be left in a locker.
However depending on who is monitoring the queue line determines if this particular rule is being enforced. The no items on the platform or fanny packs rule is defiantely being enforced. Mark the security guard is a particular nightmare.
Oh an when you go through security before you get there take off your belt, watch and empty your pockets and get ready for the full cavity search. They're stricter than what you'll experience at Heathrow. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

This time tomorrow we should all be on our way. There may not be many bee's around but I certainly have lots of butterflies in my stomach.
I'd better start packing and checking I have everything.
It's disappointing that SF's have gone a bit overboard with zip pockets not being acceptable. I was hoping those nice club members left in the queue could take possession of the camera and get some shots in, but this does not seem to be acceptable.
90+ degree's - I will definitely need a cap and lotion otherwise it will not only be the burgers well done! _________________ Steve

Don't get nervous or have butterflies guys. You are gonna have an amazing trip riding some fantastic coasters, going to some amazing parks, travelling with great people. Nev always does a superb job of making sure these trips will give you lasting memories of a cracking holiday.
Chances are the Kingda Ka ride ops won't stop you having stuff in secure pockets but just be prepared for a Six Flags moment. If you are of a larger size then El Toro appears to be better in the front, if you are of a smaller stature then the back appears a better ride. Nitro is definately a back seat ride. Medusa is worth waiting for the front to get the full effect of the floorless concept. The Batman inverter is mega intense, I got numb feet, it was great.
If Nev does the usual trick of arranging an ice cream challenge at Knoebels make sure you do it. It's not often you get to eat ice cream on a coaster and it's a great laugh if a little sticky. For anyone not use to Flying Scooters ask Nev or some of the older lot for some tips on how to get the cables twanging, they are the best Scooters anywhere. Oh and talk to Barry about how to get more than 1 ring on the brass ring carousel.
Have a great trip. _________________ RCCGB Membership Number 1915

Well if I love this trip as much as I now I am then I am already up for 2009 (Parks depending). This was a dip toe in water trip to see if you like it or not.
I am now banned from saying where I am going and when I am leaving as jealousy has set in with Clare now
I have been told I need to do one ride on Millennium Force for her and that is my rule for going.
So bring on the morning flight which is coming ever closer. _________________ Memeber of the 08 Top Thrill Rollback Club + Member of the "First to be denied SAW by Technical Failure" club.

Hi, just for your info you are correct most rides were no bumbags cameras bags etc. So it cost us $4 or £2.20 in lockers by moving to a locker doing 2-4 coasters then moving again, lockers can be hired for 2 hours at a time. BUT with Dark Knight and Kingda Ka it may take the full 2 hours for one ride!!!! (if Kingda Ka is working, had a lot of downtime yesterday) |

Enjoy the trip, and hope the weather is kind to you. I am over in the USA too, with the "other club", and the weather has been hot (daytime highs have been between 92 and 100 degrees for the last week). We are now heading into more stormy weather, and many areas of the northern states have had huge storms and flooding, and there are record numbers of tornados over here too this year. We were on tornado watch at Kansas City the other day.
One funny moment though...the alternative club visited Worlds of Fun in Kansas and the park did a laminated badge for us to wear, and although the badge clearly said European Coaster Club, below the text featured the logo of...the RCCGB! What a hilarious moment when it was spotted!
Have a great time over here...I look forward to reading the reports.

It was not quite the same this morning walking off the plane at Heathrow with 13 degrees, compared to walking into the parks in 25 to 30 degrees first thing in the morning.
Nev did the Koaster Krazy (with K's) crew proud with a fabulously organised trip. The parks were so welcoming and there is nothing quite like an ERS with 77 "fellow enthuiasts" chanting, cheering and clapping their way around the best steel and wood on offer.
Highlights - the ETW (Exclusive track walk) on Flying Turns kindly arranged by Rick Knoebel, a quick pre visit to Kennywood for Phantoms Revenge in the dark and of course US Friends Rollback Wars - Lisa (3) v Pete (1) - on TTD.
For me my first club trip to the USA has been brilliant and I can see why everyone is so keen to get onto the next club trip. _________________ Rowan S.

Arrived home at 5 p.m. today...now very tired..my connecting flight to Manchester was stuck on the runway at Heathrow for over an hour as The President was flying in on Air Force One.......didn't he know I had spent the last week fraternising with a peer of the realm, Sir Andrew Hine of Woodietown and his squire, the young at 37, Alan Chivers whilst a mere elected politican was feted like royalty......now where was I? , oh yes Koaster Krazy, I mean the President didn't even run down the aircraft steps with his hands in the air shouting "what are we?". Not even a ceremonial "Oggie Oggie Oggie"!
I wish everyone would stop changing the subject, anyway back to Koaster Krazy , what an absolutely fantastic week , great parks ,tremendous rides and amazing company and friendship. It was really sad to come home although I missed the opportunity to say goodbye to most people as I had a connecting flight and everyone had left the plane and gone to arrivals before I got off the plane. Just as well I'm not paranoid although I did see some people speed up when they saw me coming. To anyone I missed, goodbye and thanks for your company and friendship and see you at Megafobia.
I almost forgot, I was almost moved to tears by Barry's heartfelt and moving presentation to me. I shall treasure the bags of sugar for ever and once again I would like to thank everyone who voted for me, sorry I meant contributed to my fantastic collection of sugar bags from theme parks across the USA.
And lastly and most importantly a big thanks to The man who used to wear glasses and who turns up without fail at every trip . Someone need to watch him as I think he is trying to take over. That said the President needs to get a grip, he turned up late today and delayed everyone else , I mean he could of had the decency to visit us at a park in the USA, most of us had gone home by the time he arrived at Heathrow....sorry I am told that is a different President.
Anyway I am never going to finish this message if everyone keeps changing the subject.
Thanks to Nev, not forgetting Chris, Mike, Leo ,Andy Hunter and Bob.
P.S. Whats the difference between Andy Hine and President Bush
One is the most powerful man in the world and is responsible for the most important and exciting administrations ever seen by man.
The other lives in America. _________________ RCCGB Mem no 948

Ah - now I understand the comment when I arrived at Leeds Bradford airport after being delayed by an hour ("Blame president Bush"). Our pilot decided to blame it on the "well oiled machine that is Heathrow grinding to a halt" and not having anybody available to push us back from the gate for an hour.
Still - a relatively small price to pay for a fantastic club trip to the USA, my first and hopefully not my last. So, it just remains for me to add my thanks to Nev - and all the others who contributed. |

Well I did get home midday. I had to g to Thorpe Park, yes mad. My son insisted that he was doing the Fish at the park. I do say Stealth is now slow and small. O well it is still good.
I wish t thank all fr such a great trip and one which will go down as the greatest trip so far I have done. I have been told to save my money as I will be there in 2009 permission granted with out asking. _________________ Memeber of the 08 Top Thrill Rollback Club + Member of the "First to be denied SAW by Technical Failure" club.

I suppose we're going to have to call Christine, Lady Hine now.
Looks like you all had a great time, fabulous stuff. _________________ Sarah

Well where do I start?
Fantastic trip
Great coasters...........(even though we didn't manage a slight detour to ride "Shivering Timbers or "RATTL~R)
Great BEER
Great organising again by NEV.El Prez
and most of all ...GREAT COMPANY..you guys are all fantastic, and a pleasure to travel with
Still very tired. Hmm must be due to the fact that EVERY NIGHT the average time I got to bed was approx 2am.
I personally blame Harvey, Dave, Dan, Craig, (roll on next year boys)
Actually arrived home in Milford Haven 7pm Sunday night....totally shattered. (had a hell of a job keeping my eyes open on the train so I didn't miss any connections)
Just too many people to thank personally, but a special mention to Mike Conklin for all his organising on the USA side
Except for Hotel ELS BELLS
(even though at the time of booking Mike didn't know there was alterations taking place at the hotel)
And especially Nev (still don't know how you mange to do it all, and run the club)
Finally, a big thank you to all who gave me a birthday card and the "SHEEP" gifts. hilarious
See you all at Megafobia guys

Big thanks to Andy + team for organizing the trip of a lifetime (and to Dave for sorting out the fantastic road trip the week before).
I had an absolute blast and hope its not too long before I get back out to the USA again. _________________ Carl |
