Thanks for that advice. I have checked on the card no Cirrus on it. I have a Visa Debit but no pin will now get that sorted out.

If your using any normal UK cards abroad, remember to notify your issuer that you will be in a foreign country between certain dates, and get the international contact number in case it still gets blocked by accident.

Weather in the area we are visiting is currently sunny and in the 70's (highs of 78* in the next week)

Make sure you pack sunblock - riding the Kennywood Thunderbolt with sunburn really hurts! Hang, riding the Kennywood Thunderbolt without sunburn really hurts! Laughing  (in a fun way of course) Just make sure the heaviest person sits on the right!! (previous riders will know what I'm talking about)

*Thats 25C for the younger ones! Laughing

A combination of sunblock and the rccgb baseball cap should do the trick.

I got bad sunburn a week ago from just being out for 2 hours midday without sunblock - and it wasn't the warmest day we've had.

As it's hot in the states you are advised to wear shorts and not trousers. There will also be swimming opportunities so pack both! you'll need them.

Hi

Yes normal shorts for walking round the park (and for possibly get splashed on the water rides) and swimming shorts for hotels pools, etc.

Jeans just for travelling and meals in evening if it cools off.

Im a member of BAA World points (think Tesco club card for BAA airports - Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinbourgh & Southampton)

Basically you get a point for every pound you spend at the airport, including parking. points last for 3 years and even if you buy a dvd or two and have a meal when you fly the points rack up quite quickly

basically lots of stuff if you get 500 points you can get £10 off car parking for example.

You can join direct here, or if you want to be really nice and give me points when you use your card then PM me your email address and Ill recommend you! Either way you should get 100 points to start you off

On Tuesday 10th June we will have an evening free.  Less than 2 miles from our hotel is the Harrisburg Mall:

http://www.shopharrisburgmall.com/

As well as loads of shops there is also a multi-screen cinema - so you may be able to see a movie a month or two before it arrives in the UK.

Alternatively for all you Wal-Mart fans, there is a Supercenter Store just 4 miles away.  Located at 6535 Grayson Road, Harrisburg (East)

Or if you just want to chill out, dining and drinking, inside the hotel is Passage to India.  Then walking distance is:
Pizza Hut, Ruby Tuesday, Char's Bella Mundo, Dodge City, Dragonfly Club,   Eclipse & the 501 Club.  And for junk rood fans, McDonalds is a mile walk! (well at least you can walk off the calories!).

There is another Wal-Mart 2 miles from the first hotel (Saturday night) and one opposite our Cedar Point hotel (Thursday night).  You won't have time on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday or Friday nights.

Was looking into the Flash Pass, but is it worth $71, is the park likely to be that busy?

hii nev, how long we in six flags for, can we cover all the rides at an easy pace or is a fast pass vital? Do we have any ERS /s  at the park, just working out what to budget for.

Hi
We are in Six Flags from 9am - 10.00pm.  We have an ERS on one (possibly two) coasters. I'm still negotiating with them.
You should have time to do all coasters, it just depends how much you want to queue!

it depends what you want from the park. ive heard of really bad queues there before. a couple of things if you want something different to do. next door is a waterpark and afican safari (both extra charge) and dont forget that Blondie is playing there that evening. expect to be quiet around that time. but very busy the rest of the day!

a q bot could be money very well spent

Last time I was there (July) it was very busy in the park, but because they have so many coasters the queues weren't too bad.  The longest was Kingda Ka and El Toro which were both long due to the fact that they hadn't run all day and opened around 6pm.  The queue for Nitro (an excellent thrill ride - or steel coaster as some like to call it) was only 15 minutes.
As Krusty says, the park should go a bit quieter when the Blondie gig starts (6pm).  Which incidentally is free to get in, if you are already in the park.
Also with it being a Sunday, it will be fairly quiet up to lunchtime as a lot of locals will be in church.

Just watching Sky's Ultimate Thrill rides, and the first ride covered was SF's Ohio Superman, one of the rides covered by the flash pass.

Nev, I'm not sure just a little confused Smile

The first ride mentioned was Superman at Six Flags World Of Adventure, Ohio, and I clicked on your flash pass link and it mentions SF Great Adventure Superman at the bottom of the included rides. Being a newbie I must have two SF's parks mixed up.

The programme must be years old as at the end it mentioned some future rides being built that now actually exist!

Cedar Point roller coaster accident injures 9
(Friday, May 16, 2008) - At Cedar Point theme park in Sandusky, Ohio, two roller coaster cars collided on the Wildcat roller coaster. Nine people were treated at the park's first aid station for bruises and sprains; one received treatment at a local medical center.
The accident happened when one car failed to roll past the initial incline and rolled backward into another car.

The ride has been shut down.

Easily done as most Six Flags parks look the same!  Which was part of their recent troubles.  The old CEO wanted the chain to be like McDonalds - you knew exactly what you were going to get irrelevant of which Six Flags park you were in. Sadly this took away the unique feel of each park so they became faceless and characterless.  The new CEO wants to bring back the family feel and would like each park to be individual.

FYI. Six Flags Ohio was formerly Geauga Lake, until Six Flags purchased it in 2000 to try and take on Cedar Point (the next nearest park).  A year later they changed the name again to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure and they linked the park with the Sea World park across the lake.  As Six Flags suffered financially Cedar Point bought the park in 2004 and have since then removed the coasters (The Superman one in the Sky 3 programme is now at Dorney Park).  It is now called Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom as is basically a giant water park.  14 coasters have operated on the former site.

We are in Six Flags from 9am - 10.00pm.  We have an ERS on one (possibly two) coasters. I'm still negotiating with them.
You should have time to do all coasters, it just depends how much you want to queue!

Yes I wanted to be sure that we could stay for Glow In the Dark.  Have to agree that Nitro is a good thrill ride.  Much better than sister version Titan at SF Over Texas.  It has lots more AIRtime.

I think Nitros sister would be Raging Bull at SF Chicago. Or Apollos Chariot. Titans sister would be Goliath at SFMM.
All of this is irrelevant, but an ERS on Nitro would be kick ass! Cool

$71 for the Golden Flash Pass......

looking at the list of rides it's available on, I think thats not bad really given our exchange rate, so brings it to nearer £36.

I've not been to this park before and will be on a "scratch-a-thon" to get all the coasters in, so may well consider this. If the place is extra busy because of the Blondie thing, could be a good call. I notice the website mentions that there are only a certain number available each day, so we'll have to make the call fairly early on (and hopefully have the advantage of being in the park before the public).

Have to decide in the bar the evening before i think Smile

I know Blondie is performing the night we are there, but....are they really as big (popular) as they once were?  I don't think that 20,000 people will rush to the park to see Blondie! So I don't think it will make too much difference to the attendance that day.  If it was someone like the Rolling Stones, U2 or Kraftwerk, then I'd be worried!  Well actually if it was Kraftwerk l'd be well happy and wouldn't care how many people were in the park cos I'd be in the front row!  Laughing  Laughing
