Oops - ignore the Gatwick comment! It is definitely Heathrow - Terminal Five! And yes I will give everyone the 'green' & 'white' forms at the airport (along with a guide on how to fill them in!). _________________ RCCGB - THE Club for trips!

I also got my Trip Tip Guide today, and I'm very impressed with it. Nice job Andy!
Not having been to the US before, things I've been wondering about are covered.
Now I just have to investigate how to get to terminal 5 by 6am _________________ Steve

Two things:
1) the letter that came with the Trip Tip Guide says June 6th. Ignore that, we are definitely leaving on Saturday June 7th. (sorry for any confusion)
2) On page 3 (USA Visa), its make a reference to Gatwick. It should say Heathrow!! (sorry for any confusion there too!)
Well, it was 2.00am in the morning when I did it! _________________ RCCGB - THE Club for trips!

And what about the bit in the trip guide that refers to bagage handlers at Gatwick.
I know BA have been having baggage handling problems at Heathrow so is outr luggage going to be going via Gatwick? _________________ Official Team Bush Member

Going off on a complete tangent. What ride are you most looking forward to. For me it is riding Phoneix again and El Toro.

As it's my first time to the US, I'm really looking forward to tackling many of the rides from tiddlers to big-un's. I'm not exactly sure what's in store for me but it's going to be great. Bring it on!
I will have to wait and hope to make the USA 2009 trip which I believe is west coast, but at least that gives me time to prepare for the Stratosphere's XScream and Insanity rides. _________________ Steve

Hi I believe 2009 will be the East coast, including the new Hard Rock Park, Busch Gardens etc. but everything is subject to change and still in the planning stage, so just enjoy this years trip(which I am sure you will, 2008 will be my 8th trip and I am still enjoying them) and then worry about 2009 when it gets here!!! |

Being a USA trip virgin, I'm just looking forward to experiencing American scream machines for the first time. In particular Phoenix to see if it lives up to the hype and Mean Streak to see if it is really as 'mean' as folk attest _________________ Carl |

Well Mean Streak certainly lives up to it's nickname of Trim Squeak, but as a USA virgin it has to be done! (You never know when it might go )
As for The Phoenix. Well, you will not be disappointed! I can't wait for my annual Phoenix Phix! I think I'd better sort an ERS on that! haha!
And don't forget to order your souvenir tour T-shirts before the deadline. This year they are bright with a capital B!! _________________ RCCGB - THE Club for trips!

Ok here's a question for those of you that have been before.
When you're in Cedar Point, is it possible to get on all 17 coasters in one day or would it be better to have some idea of preference? |

We are normally in the point for about 16 hours (including 2-3 ERSs) so it is very possible to get the rest of the coasters done. (unless its raining and then Dragster and disaster transport YES THE INDOOR ONE will close down!!)
word of warning though travelling at 90 mph and getting hit by rain is NOT FUN!!
the day at the point is very tiring and is after a whole week of early starts and late finiishes!!!! |

Yes it is possible to do all coasters at CP in a day. We will probably cover three major ones (TTD, MF & Maverick) during the ERS's. There is not usually much of a queue for Magnum anymore. Gemini has a high throughput, Mean Streak is out of the way, Blue Streak is not appreciated by the teenagers so is usually walk on and Raptor gets a bit sticky depending on time of day. Wildcat can get busy due to it only have 4 seater cars. But as Krusty says, we will probably enter CP at 7am and won't leave until after midnight!
If you have to miss any, just skip the Mine Train, Corkscrew, Junior Gemini (which you may not get on anyway as you need a child with you - Alan is available for rent!).
On previous trips the group usually do everything they want to and that includes stopping for our organised lunch on the edge of Lake Erie (near the Jet Ski hire which does Club discounts!)
As the Trip Tip Guide says though - pace yourself. You do not want to dehydrate! _________________ RCCGB - THE Club for trips!

During last years Coaster Heaven was the first time I had been to Cedar Point.
I managed to get all the coasters in comfortably. Following our first ERS on Maverick, we headed straight for TTD to beat the public queues. This wasn't the first coaster to open, so we ended up going to Raptor. The only reason for the TTD idea was to try and get a roll back, but alas it did not happen as they only loaded front few seats to start with and progressivly filled the train each load as it warmed up.
We had a pretty busy day and went non-stop round all the coasters until we were done. We stopped for lunch for 45 minutes also, but managed to do our last coaster at approx 15:30. So it's easily possible given that we were in the park until midnight anyway!
If you're into counting coasters, there are actually 18 as the gemini counts as 2 on most lists as it's a racer coaster (left & right tracks). One thing to watch with this is if they are using both sides. If it's quiet they may only use one. When I was there they used both during the middle of the day when it was busier. Also, as Andy mentioned above, the Junior Gemini is for kids only. We had a word with the park staff at the beginning of the day to see if they could arrange anything. After a few phone calls we were allowed
Also another tip for busy parks, is to get the gen from the park representative when walking to your first ERS. We found this useful at SF Great America also on last years trip. We learned that Batman was only using 1 train, thus would have a slower throughput and attract queue's. Also towards the end of the ERS we headed straight for Superman coaster as this is near the entrance, reasonably new and gets big queue's as the public seem to stampede there first. (Was funny as we had to walk past the rope holding back 100's of public as we strolled towards it casually). I know that day a reasonable number of the trip did not manage to get on everything due to the queue's, so our strategy works
But as for Cedar Point, you should be fine to get all 18 in during the day. It's a huge park though, i think from the front gate to Magnum is over a mile or something crazy like that, so you'll be well knackered by the end of the day, and make sure you have comfy footwear!!
Just a few tips for you - good luck and see you there _________________ Matt

The more that Andy puts and others the more exciting this trip is becoming. I thought it would be good but I may come out saying amazing.
Cedar Point seems like a long day but as long as I get my coasters in I don't mind.
Not long now only 10 weeks and 2 days to go, if anyone is counting _________________ El Toro My 200th coaster and first USA coaster (Also member of roll back club on TTD 2)
