Woodiestock - USA 1999 - The Outlaw No Brakes!Yes, you read that correctly...1999.
Many of you may not have heard of what happened on the Outlaw coaster, at Adventureland Park, in Des Moines, back on the club trip of ten years ago. Those who were there will never forget it...
Basically a disgruntled employee decided to run the coaster straight through the station without applying the final brakes, which meant the train did a left turn at high speed, ran through the station at approx 25mph, left again, over some small bunny hops, around a 180 degree right hand bend, and sailed halfway up the lifthill before actually engaging with the chain. The event is legendary. The footage has only been available on my old VHS video tape...until now. Tonight I have put my footage on YouTube for you all to enjoy.
The Outlaw clip link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rasxGfwavi4
I have also put on a few other clips of coaster POV from the 1999 trip:

Thanks for that David. Whilst the clips are good, the Outlaw item is incredible, especially when you know it was not just club members on board but the general public for many goes.

Legendary is definately the word for it. What an experience that was
I'll never forget the ride ops last words as he was sacked on the spot
"I'm outta here"
It will stay with me for the rest of my life. It even rates with the, ice cream dropping on the floor incident.............HILARIOUS!!

Though I will never be lucky to get out to the States, that Outlaw did look like a lot of fun.

Happy to bring back some great memories Ryan. That was my first ever USA trip too, like yourself, and what a trip it was.
The other lasting memory was riding the Wild Thing at Valleyfair with the trim brakes off at night, and seeing the sparks fly off the wheels at it hit the brakes, everyone on the train cheering as we went through those final tunnels at super-fast speed.
I will see if I can add one or two other gems when I get a bit more spare time.
The "Outlaw through the station" experience was one of those moments that you wouldn't believe happened if you didn't see it yourself. Now, at last, it is available on the Internet for all to enjoy.
