West Midlands Safari Park 05/10/07

We took our first ever trip to WMSP on the Friday before Loopathon. The weather was fantastic for a bit of animal wathing and coaster riding.

We started our day by doing the animal safari. I enjoyed this much more than a standard zoo as you can get really close to animals that you would otherwise never see. A particular highlight was the Giraffes and the White Lions. Fascinating to watch and so similar to domesticated cats in some of their actions.

In the late afternoon we headed over to the fair grounds and tried some of the rides. They have some nice flats including the new Venom drop tower which is suprisingly fast, a bizarre water rapids ride, and very slow dodgems amongst others. The coasters were all very good and re rideable. We both enjoyed the Rhino coaster which picks up a good deal of speed with some nice fast corners. The Big apple is a big apple really, but quite a fast one. The best coaster was the Twister ride as we got our first ever oppurtunity to have the spin fully unlocked for the whole circuit. The ride op was very friendly and let us have this very different ride experience. So ask nicely next time your there and they may just let you!!

I had a really goo day at West Midlands. The safari was brilliant! Very surprised by some of the animals they had like the elephants and rhinos!
We saw some white tigers playing which was very cute!

The amusement area was good, felt very sick on some of the rides especially the blackfly.
Twister was brilliant, never been on a wild mouse with it unlocked, I think we might have got the ride op in trouble because we went up the lift hill on a tilt. Oops!

It is worth a visit if you have not been before! 3 Ticks!!

Glad you guys had a great time ive always like westmidlands since I was a kid when the old boomerang used to be there (But was to small to ride)

They have a good selection of rides there and I no there are some plans for them over the next few years to come.

I havent been to the WMSP since 2001 when a zebra bit me haha. I got really excited that day as i thought i was going to get to ride the Cobra (boomerang) but it had been taken out, doh! It would have been my frst boomerang ride too!!

Did any monkeys snap off your windowscreen wipers?? Laughing

AD Cool
Bunnie

No monkeys there anymore Adam, they all had to be culled because of a disease.

I like the Rhinos, unless they come a bit too close to the cars and then it freaks me out for a bit.

Used to go to WMSP about twice a year but haven't been for ages.

Dan, they have got a monkey walkthrough place near Stoke, I think it's called Monkey Forest.

I wonder if it is just the curiousity that makes them so destructive.

I agree with about the monkeys as when I went to Longleat near Warminster when I was 8 years old, I can remeber them jumping on the car.
