Thorpe Park 17th feb

Our first trip to the park of the year. Me and Mum met everyone else by the Annual Pass building, so we queued for that until a member of staff came along asking everyone what they were doing. We said we were having to get our passes reprinted, but in the end we got in with the old ones, which saved a bit of time. So we got in the park just after 10am.
It was a frosty, clear morning so that meant none of the coasters opened straight away, apart from X:/ Whats the point, so we headed straight for the Teacups, Via seeing the new tunnel themeing on Tidal Wave  Laughing nah not really, it was just because they were working on it, and making sure Steve Caine didn't bang his head on the low bridge again.
We started wandering around looking for other rides open, and next stop was Stealth, which at first was crawling over the top. This was my first coaster of the year, and it felt like it too, that launch still takes me by suprise. Next stop I think was Slammer*. I only had the one go, but Dan, Smiler and some of the others went round for another go as the queue was minimal. It was at that time that Colossus started testing. With the new coaster for 2009, the whole of Canada Creek was fenced off, so we had to go the long way round to Colossus, where we were met by security guards keeping us at bay. When we were let through, we were all told not to run, but hey, this is Thorpe Park, so the kiddies, well more teenagers just legged it for the entrance. The main queue round by the lake was open, so we managed to get a good look at the site of the new coaster. Not much to look at at the mo though. Colossus itself was still as rough and enjoyable as ever.
Other rides included Nemesis Inferno, God, it's nice to get back on a B&M again, Mr Monkey's Banana ride, where we had fun with the operator, which also happened on Quantum. The Sphere of fear, AKA Zodiac was disappointing as usual. Steve B could'nt fit onto Vortex, so the operator let Dan out his seat to assist. He soon got that restraint down  Very Happy.
The longest queue was for X, but we did it anyway, just to see if any more new lightbulbs had been put in, but nope. The neon lights up the lift made up for it though  Surprised .
A few more rides on Stealth and Inferno before the end of the day.
Oh, I nearly forgot to mention the ride op on the Tea cups who should'nt waste his/her time applying for X Factor  Laughing

All in all a good day for this early in the season, and good to see some friendly faces again.

* With it being a long day, I might have mixed up the ride order a bit  Wink

Sound like you have a better trip that I did on Saturday ... admittedly I didn't get there until around 2.30pm, but I managed the grand total of  one ride, and that was Nemmy, and then she managed to break down before we left the station. Rolling Eyes

I queued in the SR queue for around 1/2hr for Stealth and they only let around 4 people on in all that time, prefering to fill spaces from the ordinary queue, even if they were single.  So we gave up and moved over to Nemmy, where we met up with some more friends, eventually made it onto the train only for her to lock down with us in the seats.  After around 15mins of 'Chair' the ride ... the staff turffed us off, and eventually sent her round empty.  We were assured by the staff that it was the first breakdown of the season, not bad for the first day - eh?!!  Rolling Eyes   Anyway we managed one ride and then had to leave - Hey ho  Very Happy

Very impressed with Thorpe on Sunday. The rides were running great especially Nemesis Inferno. Interestingly they restored the original music for the first couple of hours before reverting to the not so old, but not last years music. Very interesting!

Stealth was running great and we even saw a role back when they were testing it frist thing in the morning. Disappointing to see in the end! Colossus was good as usual and with the water effect under the cobra role restored now makes it feel a bit more like a lost city.

Vortex was also flying with iits shiny new restraints. Seemed to swing higher and faster, maybe just becuase we haven't done it for a while.

Hello everyone.

Just to say thanks for a great time at Thorpe on Sunday. It was a great laugh and just what the doctor ordered after the boredom of Jan  Very Happy

My gloves are still traumatized though (or should that be infusioned??) after their kidnap ordeal  Laughing I think they will be OK though.
