The Birthday Get Together

This weekend we had a little get together for mine and Hayleys birthdays. Pliers, Plugholes, Barnabee and Hover Wash just where do I start!

Friday 4th
This evening we headed over to Playzone for the monthly adult night. They have a large indoor play area similar to the Milky Way in Devon, with the usual drop slides and cargo nets. There were more than a few friction burns from the big slide, I'm not sure who won the "Biggest Burn" I think it was either Bunnie or Steve C. Hayley finally has the bruise on her back after being slammed into the metal framing, you know who you are!! After running round like headless chickens for 3 hours we retired home for a few well earned beers!!

Saturday 5th
We started first thing down at the Ferry Terminal for the short hop over to the Isle of Wight where we took the coastal route down to Blackgang Chine. We rode the coaster first which is a copy of Mini Mighty Mega but with a great view from the top and the usual sideways jolt from a Pinfari copy! It was surprisingly smooth and we all agreed a good little ride. Next up was the water ride which was a fast little inflatable boat ride with a dark tube called the plug hole, I think me and Andy P made it the furthest up the hill on this one. We then explored the rest of the park and its quirky attractions, Hayley's Hole on the Devils Mouth, the Scaly old Dinosaur (!), the Back to the Future Train, and the best adventure play area ever! Climbing backwards up a slide has never been so much fun!!

Next up we drove over to Sandown for the bonus coaster and a real surprise of the trip. The coaster was a small Schiff kiddie coaster called wild mine. It looked like it had been made out of the scrap metal bin from Jordan's. A fast little ride with big buckets for cars which gave us 6 laps of fun and a roll back! The park also had a roundabout sized set of Go Karts and the best Astroglide ever. Myself, Adam, Steve C and Hayley had some airtime rides on the big slide which must have been brasso'd that day. All of us went airborne on the last few drops and had some good wipeouts at the bottom. You'd have to see the pictures to believe the height we were getting from the slide.

The last stop was to Sandown Pier for the Best Whole Day Out in One Place. We had a good war on the blaster guns, had a go on the snake slide over the sea and saw the most upsetting thing ever. Its too sad a tale to tell but it was pliers and a fish, oh the tragedy. After recovering from the trauma and dragging Adam away from the scene we played a round on the best themed crazy golf in this country. A win for Rach P and a wooden spoon for Steve C after the 10 point deduction for golf ball related assault!

On the ferry home we made a new friend, Barnabee McBuzzley Junior the friendly bumblebee. We watched in wonder as he buzzed around the ferry and sang his merry song, before being maliciously squashed by the bee killer! Who squashed Barnabee, you'll never know......

Sunday 6th
After such a sunny day Saturday we woke up to howling winds and rain. Not to be done by the weather we headed down to Southsea to see if the coaster was running. After wave dodging from Old Portsmouth (Adam you still need some practice) we were amazed to find the coaster running. So we had a go on the Extreme, the Coaster and a great set of Waltzers. You had to work them a little but we got them going in the end. We had a little walk up the seafront to watch the hover craft go in and out. With such rough seas and a big turbo fan we were treated to a nice salty Hover Wash and a fast trip up the beach!

We had a quick stop on Portsdown Hill to have a monster burger, enjoy the view and feed the birds (Where did that chip go!) before heading over to Hayling Island (watch that corner) to have a few hours at Funland. We got wristbands for a fiver and took in all the rides we could in the 2 hours. We had the usual spin on the cauldrons and Steve C had his first soaking on the Log Flume with Andy P. The rest of us elected to sit that one out so we could catch the photos. After winning the Simpsons Cast from the grab machines we headed home to say our goodbyes.

A great weekend with lots packed in to a short amount of time. Remember your loyalty cards guys to pick up your points in December!! And Steve when you coming back to finish the pond! Thanks for a great one.
Bunnie

Really was a superb weekend, thanks so much Steve and Hayley for inviting us.

Friday

After being stuck in traffic for ages and getting lost due to Andy ignoring BunnieNav we eventually made it to Steves to be welcomed by yummy pizza and Steve Caine...who hadn't got lost  Wink

We went to Playzone which was brilliant, perfect for big kids. It took me some courage to go on the bigger death slide but I managed it and even have the friction burn to prove it. I think Steve C won the friction burn competition. I enjoyed the blue spinning pole and managed to hold on for 10 revolutions until Adam made me laugh too much.

Saturday

Saturday was an early start for us to get our ferry across to the Isle of Wight, the weather was absolutely gorgeous for us. We headed to Blackgang for our first tick of the day and got an excellent bargain on the entry tickets.

I think it was decided that Blackgang has the best theme park food and had some really good themed areas.

They also have the best fizzy sour sweets  Smile

Then headed off to Sandown for the bonus coaster which was actually pretty good. Also we went on the play park next door to the coaster for a zip wire challenge.

The golf on Sandown pier was great fun, well themed and I won, woohoo!!

The fish incident was very traumatic, poor little fishy  Crying or Very sad

Special mention also to the ice creams we had by Sandown pier, yum yum!!!

We then headed back to the ferry where we encountered Barnabee, the friendly Isle of Wight bee who met a very tragic end at the hands (or should I say feet) of he who shall not be named. The ferry was followed by cat curry and many servings of all you can eat chinese.

Sunday

Woke up to a very gloomy start to the day, headed to Southsea for a bit of wave dodging, Adam was doing so well until a massive wave soaked him through  Laughing

Managed to get a go on Extreme and Skyways Coaster. After Southsea headed to get a hotdog which was lush and then off to Hayling Island for a couple of hours. The sun came out and we enjoyed a few goes on the rides for a reasonable £5 deal on the wristband. After Steve won Hayley some Simpsons toys from the grabber machines (awwwww!!) we headed back for a well deserved drink before setting off back home.

Had such a brilliant weekend, thanks guys xxx
