Just back home after a fun day at Flamingoland. I though Mumbo Jumbo was a great fun ride, a little quirky, but featuring some interesting elements indeed...the "record breaking" drop is the start of it, but I loved the outward banked turn and the two inversions even better. Susan only rode once and has lovely bruises on her shoulders just from that one ride. I got 4 rides in, and would like to ride it more on a quieter day.
It was great to catch up with a few people we hadn't seen in years. Hello all!
The only downside for me was that the park only ran one train on the main coasters...and we had a 80-minute wait to get on "queue-mali". Apparently the ride op said they hadn't got the second train on as they didn't expect the park to be so busy! The small matter of a sunny day and a huge amount of publicity over a certain new ride being opened today might have given them a subtle clue?
Otherwise it was terrific...thanks to Nev and all who helped make the day a great one.
David.

Overall was a great weekend spent with even greater friends, old and new (even though some of you did slap my sunburn )
I enjoyed the park generally but felt some of the staff could've been better. I'm one of the people who wasn't overly impressed with Mumbo Jumbo, I didn't find it all that comfortable on my shoulders (and have the marks to prove it) and didn't find it all that thrilling or fun to ride.....just my opinion though.
My ride of the day was Flip Flop, got an awesome amount of airtime from it. Also enjoyed running in the fountains as a way to cool down, the weather was scorching considering heavy rain was forecast.
Thanks to everyone who made the day great and thanks to Nev for organising another fab trip.
Pics will be on facebook shortly

Well another great club trip. Pretty terrible weather for a time on friday when we were driving up but it cleared to a largely dry and sunny weekend.
Flammingo Land proved to be as good and bad as I expected. Most of the rides were great but through put on the larger rides was atrocious and que lines that in other parks would take 15 mins took over an hour. The Corkscrew was a walk on when we did it though - the side of my head still hurts! The splash battle ride was suprising - I did it last year and got lightly sprayed but this year it was a thorough drenching - it didn't help that our guns didn't work at all! Soon it was time to try out Mumbo Jumbo. I rode in the afternoon - just in case it worked as well as Saw - and was pleasently suprised. The restraints were comfortable, the ride was smooth and fun although I thought the best bit was the drop. The following ERS was also a pleasent suprise after El Prez managed to persuade the management that the ride was capable of more than 50 riders in an hour!
The weekend was rounded off with a chilled out trip to Lightwater Valley. I managed to complete the Skate Kart track without crashing for the first time ever. The Ultimate was flying and slightly smoother than it has been (it still hurt!) After the accident on Cedar Points Wildcat last year The Rat (a wildcat coaster in the dark) has been reduced to running 2 cars resulting in long ques - a shame as it's a great ride - but the rest of the park was running nicely. And I even found time for a visit to the fudge shop - yum yum.
Arrived back in Oxford at 10:20pm having made the journey in a very respectable 4hrs & 20min (not including break for supper) although I got the impression Ann wasn't impressed with my car, driving and stereo!

Another great trip and a very nice park. It was my first trip to Flamingoland and I will definitely be back soon. I thought Mumbo Jumbo was excellent and a really good fun ride. I wasn't expecting much from it as it did look rather slow in testing, but seemed to fly around when actually on there. Our last ride was really pulling some speed and we nearly got a piegon. The drop was suprisingly good and a lot better than the Eurofighters, you don't seem to notice it on those.
Overall I think my Favourite ride was probably Kumali, the first drop into banked turn was insane. Spongebob was a good laugh and had the moving seats which would really suit the Time Voyagers film at Thorpe.

I must say I was impressed with Flamingoland.
I thought Kumali was better than Infusion.
I liked Mumbo Jumbo too. There's some fun elements that you don't get on a normal coaster, like the outside banked corner, that 112 degree drop, some very long "hang time" and even the name. It makes me laugh when I ride it, definitly a thumbs up from me.
There's an article and Video on the Scarborough Evening News Website about Mumbo Jumbo here:

(The paper the reporter was from).
Good to meet old and new RCCGB members too.
Good Stuff.
I've added some photos to my flickr site. (see sig).

Thanks Nev for a great trip.
Sorry I can't agree about the new ride. It was very painful for me to ride.
Also I found some off the staff very rude.
I defently won't be rushing to go back to the park. Unless they build wood!
Really nice to meet up with a great loads of friends. isn't it!
Can't wait for Nemesis Nicks report!

this was our first summer bash and our first time at flamingo land we were very impressed with the park and after waiting so long to ride the motor bike coaster it did not dissapoint ,flip flop was a fun ride and we got soaked on the splash battle ride it was nice to ride a corkscrew again even if it was alittle rough.after waiting over 2 hours to ride mumbo jumbo we got near the front when it broke down but it did not take to long to get it running again and we finaly got to ride it, it is a great addition to the park and a very smooth ride but a little painfull on the shoulders , then we rode the slc coaster a very good ride but just as rough as infusion. then time for the ers i managed 3 goes on mumbo jumbo then gave up with sore shoulders the kids did a couble more rides before we set of home. great trip, great park and great people cheers andy for organising this trip.

I loved my club trip once again to Flamingos. Got to meet some of the USA crew which was good to. The weather was great considering the rain we were promised cannot complain. It was just let down by some of the rude and unhappy staff. On Mumbo Jumbo was one of them. You should all be happy about a new ride opening and encourage people to enjoy it also. I was not a huge fan of the ride, maybe because of the wait for it. That said it will be a good addition to the park something different that general public will love it as not the same as a normal coaster. A good day.
Followed by Lightwater Vally a little park , which needs more rides in the middle of park. But coasters was good finally rode Ultimate coaster as well. Thomas also managed his 50th coaster on the Caterpillar coaster. Not the best or highest coaster count until you hear his is just 4 and half yrs old. He loved it his friend Sophie loved it as well her first club trip and sure she will join Thomas again for more coaster fun.
So just to say Thank you Nev for once again going the extra mile for a great trip and here is looking forward to more in the future.

I never got to ride it as I could not make the bash, but reports for Mumbo Jumbo range from extremely comfortable so you can ride it again and again to painful and uncomfortable. Looks like body shape and height make all the difference.

Few club memebers on Flamingo land Tv and also Mr Hine himself.
I found mumb jumbo 50/50 not good but not bad either thats most proberly cause the satff at the start of it didnt no if they were coming or going one said 6 and another said 7. The staff seemd to chatty sometimes and not getting people through quick enough they just stand there and talk for a while then start pulling down the bars etc where as the bloke on sky flyer done a great job doing both at the same time keeping ques down . As some people have said if 80 min que dont seem busy to them then what que would be as only having one train on kumali and the guy said its not busy to put to trains on what plannet was he from . A great weekend tho and good to see everyone again. See you all at Oakwood

I find it starange they didn't setup the 2 train operation as standard and then take it off if it isn't busy enough. Its not exactly hard to take the train off, we've seen it plenty of times at other parks.

I wouldn't be suprised if the spare train is rusted to the track the amount of use it gets. I've visited several times over last few years (including when it's been busier) and never seen them use the 2nd train. Mind you they're so slow loading anyway would it actually make a difference?

RCCGB Summer Bash 2009
Date: Saturday 4 July 2009
Venue: Flamingo Land near Malton, North Yorkshire
Who Went: Me and around 200 other RCCGB members, including Andy and Christine Hine, Andy T, Alan Chilvers, Barry, Big Stevie B, Bradpeet, Bunnie, Coaster Clare, David Ellis, Graham, mophead, Penny and Sam, Richard (from Hemel Hempstead), Smiler.
N.B. The above is not intended to be an exhaustive list of everyone who attended.
Getting To Flamingo Land
As some of you may be aware, in order to be able to attend this year’s Summer Bash at all, I decided to have a four-night holiday in York this year, planned around the Summer Bash (travelled to York Thursday 2 July daytime, stayed 4 nights in York, returned to Bath Monday 6 July evening). On the day of the Summer Bash, I had an early breakfast in order to catch the 8:25 Yorkshire Coastliner Whitby bus from York. Having reached Kirby Misperton Roundabout just over an hour later, it was then a short walk to Flamingo Land gate.
Something about the journey is worth a mention. The double decker bus was nearly full when I got on in York, and more got on between York and Malton. At Malton Bus Station, there were loads more people waiting to get on, including some with trip badges for the Summer Bash (one I noticed also donned a navy RCCGB 20th anniversary T-shirt). Most of those were unable to get on, and an extra bus had to be laid on for their benefit (I think that one only went as far as Pickering though). It must have been awful for those members attending the Summer Bash who had waited for the Whitby bus at Malton Bus Station, only to discover that bus was full and they’d have to wait a bit longer.
Welcome To Flamingo Land
Once there the majority of the Club were already in the Park, waiting for the group photo. Andy Hine was just inside the gate. He gave me my ticket, in I went and joined the group just in time for the group photo. I was so pleased to be in the group photo at the start of the day at a park the Club has visited, because I’ve seen group photos taken on USA trips (Holiday World, Dollywood) in past Yearbooks. Now was my chance to be in a group photo at the start of a Club trip, on a lovely sunny day.
Normal Opening Time
Velocity
I followed the group to Velocity, a Vekoma motorbike coaster. By the time I reached it, there was a long queue of us members. Did all of us head for it at once? Didn’t anyone choose to start the day on something else? Anyway, by the time I got there, I faced a lengthy wait to get on it. It was definitely worth the long wait though. The train set off around a bend and there was a pause before hearing a loud “vroom”. After that, the train set off really fast up the lift and around the course of the track. I noticed AIRtime on the dip just before returning to the station.
Having left Velocity, I couldn’t face an even longer queue second time around, so decided to do something else next: Navigator. I never returned to Velocity all day.
Navigator
A disko ride. Thankfully the waiting time for this was nothing long as I’d just spent waiting for Velocity. Basically this is like any other disko I’ve ridden to-date: sit on the edge of a giant disk facing outwards, and travel a U-shaped track back and forth whist spinning. I sat next to Graham. He agreed with me, one go at a time is enough on this. This ended up being my only go all day on this.
Corkscrew
Another of the Park’s mighty coasters, a blue structure with white track. Looking at it, this appeared to be considerably older than Navigator. Is this one of the Park’s oldest coasters? At the time the queue was thankfully short. This was definitely fun to ride. The train set off up the lift, and a thrilling course followed, including an inversion of some sort (not a vertical loop). Again, this was my only go of the day on this.
Dragon Coaster
A family coaster, whereby 1 ride = 4 laps. The track goes over the station roof. Undeniably this was tame compared to Velocity and Corkscrew that I’d just ridden, indeed tame compared to El Pastil Loco at Devon’s Crealy a month earlier, but it was worth having one go on it just to tick it.
Wave Swinger
A chair-o-plane just inside the entrance. The ride rises up and is tilted whilst spinning clockwise. Another fun ride.
I considered going on the Flying Clowns next, just to add it to my list, but watching it, it didn’t seem particularly exciting, so I gave it a miss. Next I tried going on the Cycle Monorail, and after waiting a few minutes, the attendant said I can’t go by myself, so I headed for Balloon Race next.
Balloon Race
Made by Zamperla, it runs clockwise at an angle. It’s the same as the Balloon Race at Flambards (also a Zamperla ride), which I’ve ridden on every visit there from 2002 to 2008, but this one doesn’t have seat belts (whereas the one at Flambards does).
Cycle Monorail
Having left Balloon Race, I met Club member Richard and we rode Cycle Monorail together. He was on the left, and I was on the right. The ride features paired push bikes on a monorail. Presumably you need someone pedalling both bikes simultaneously to go round, hence why you need two riders. Anyway the track is a level circuit, no ups or downs, so presumably therefore this does not qualify as a roller coaster.
Having returned to the station, I asked Richard if he wanted to go on the Wild Mouse next, but he wanted to get lunch, whereas I was still OK since breakfast. I headed for the Wild Mouse, but there was a long queue, so I looked for something else.
Gallopers
The traditional seaside favourite, a carousel featuring galloping horses. I had one go on this just to give it the tick.
Rock ‘n’ Tug
This is made by Zamperla, and differs from a swinging pirate ship in that it spins about its centre whilst swinging.from a pivot at the bottom. A mega fun ride, but, one go at a time on this was enough on this, it’s not the sort of ride you can ride repeatedly. The first time I ever went on a ride like this was my debut visit to Woodlands in August 2004.
Rock Slide
A 4-lane Astra slide. Having queued for it, you are allowed to slide it twice. Obviously therefore if you want further goes after that, you must queue again for another two goes. My first go was in the far left lane (as viewed from the top), and second go was in the second from left lane. I didn’t bother queuing again to slide the other two lanes.
Cliff Hanger
A tall drop tower ride. I had to queue for about 20 minutes or so to get on this. Other RCCGB members were queuing the same time as me. Eventually I got on to the ride. It rose part way up, and there was a pause before being thrusted rapidly to the top. During the said pause, riders were warned to keep their heads firmly against the head rests for the ascent. Wow, what an amazing view of Flamingo Land and the surrounding North Yorkshire countryside from the top! Obviously to me it was out of focus as I’d removed my glasses prior to riding the ride. The gondola dropped part way, rose again, dropped and there was a slow descent towards the end. A mega fun ride that was all over too soon. Despite being a bit nervous before going on, I didn’t scream throughout the entire duration of the ride.
From Cliff Hanger I headed for Kumali, but there was a very long queue for that, so I backed off. A shame really as it’s an inverted coaster I particularly wanted to ride. Next I approached the cable cars next-door, but they had a lenghy queue too, so I didn’t bother with those either. Entered the wet area Sploosh! Just one problem, I’d get wet going on the rides or in any fountains here. At the time I still had my jeans on, which would mean donning my cagoule and leggings. I decided to go somewhere to change from my jeans into my shorts, that way I could just put my cagoule on to keep my T-shirt dry, and not worry about the exposed part of my legs getting wet.
Feeling like a bite to eat, I went into Marine Wharf for a baguette and coffee at this point. Having left Marine Wharf, the opening of Mumbo Jumbo was fast approaching.
Mumbo Jumbo Opening
I approached Mumbo Jumbo and most of the Club were there awaiting its opening. The official opening was due to take place at 2:15. It was unclear to me as to exactly what was going on. I asked an attendant, and was told that we would not be going on now, it would be just VIPs, and we’d be going on when it first opened to the public at 4pm. Also unclear was whether or not there’d be an official ceremony to watch. I asked if there was to be a speech, there was now going to be one at 2:30, but for the best view I’d need to wait the other side of the ride, i.e. where the cars would be directly approaching me on leaving the station. Meanwhile, I had my picture taken with Nev and another picture taken of me with Postman Pat.
Around the other side, I could see speakers set up. There were also giant balloons around the ride. Time passed by and there seemed no sign of someone giving a speech. Determined to see an official opening, I carried on waiting and around 2:50, someone from Galaxy FM finally appeared to give a short speech. After that one car load of VIPs set off in the first car to run following the coaster’s opening ceremony. Nev was in the second car. By the time the third car set off, I left the scene and went on other rides elsewhere. Knowing that there would inevitably be an enormously long queue when this eventually opened to the public around 4pm, I felt time would be better spent riding other rides, and to save Mumbo Jumbo for our ERS.
Lost Kingdom Express
A train that runs around the Lost Kingdom; there are three stations. I travelled two stops on this from near Kumali to near Wagon Wheels.
Wagon Wheels
A big wheel by Zamperla. You get on and can have as many revolutions as you want. I had three revolutions.
Sky Flyer
A 360° swing boat by Vekoma. In fact there are two boats; one either side of the central pillar. I got on. Initially the boat swung forwards and backwards. Gradually it got higher on each swing, just like Rush at Thorpe Park. Eventually the boat swung right over the top to complete a 360° revolution. The swings became smaller towards the end until it ground to a halt. Again, a thrilling ride, and I managed not to scream on it. I must admit though, I had the feeling “terafirmer” at the end. I only had one go on this all day.
Having left Sky Flyer, I headed for Muddy Duck Farm to explore this area. Some rides here are for children only. Others looked like adults permitted, but not worth bothering with. I considered going on the People Moover monorail, but when I saw the queue, and had no idea how long a wait there would be for a train, I backed off. Passing the Mischief Mansion, I wondered what it was, so I approached the entrance, but that had a queue to go in. Therefore I decided to give it a miss in favour of doing the big rides in Splosh instead.
Flip Flop
Having queued about 15-20 minutes for this, I got on, and the alarm rang. Everyone had to leave. The attendant said the engineer would have to come and examine it. He said I could wait by the exit, and be allowed straight back on if fixed, but could be a long time. Decided therefore to go on something else.
By now Mumbo Jumbo had been open to the public for a while, and already it had broken down! Teething troubles on its first day of opening, eh? Well let’s face it, Alton Towers had trouble with Oblivion (including riders becoming stranded at the top) when it first opened. Someone in the Club asked if I’d been on Mumbo Jumbo yet, I said I hadn’t, and was deliberately saving that for our ERS at the end of the day, in order that I could ride other rides now.
Splash Battle
There was quite a wait for this boat ride too. Having seen the warning that you will get wet on this ride, I donned my cagoule in order to avoid getting my T-shirt wet. When it was my turn I got into a boat and set off around the circuit, which included a water curtain.
Flip Flop
Flip Flop was now working again, so I had a go on it. This ride swings and spins. Although it looks scary, I managed to ride it without screaming. I sang “Hard Rock Hallelujah” (Lordi – Eurovision Song Contest winner 2006 for Finland) whilst riding this. Although one go was great fun, it gets nul points from me for re-ridability. I couldn’t take two goes on it straight off.
Kumali
The time was now around 5:15pm, and there was now a 15 minute wait for this, so I waited. I was fortunate enough to get a front row seat on this. It’s an inverted coaster very similar to Infusion at Pleasure Beach Resort Blackpool: up the lift, a vertical loop and loads more twists. One of my most-enjoyed rides all day. Snag was the fun was all over too quickly. I didn’t bother queuing again for a second go as I wanted to cram in a few other rides I still hadn’t ridden, and what I thought was closing time (6pm) was fast approaching.
Voodoo
A swing boat, just like the Queen Bess at Devon’s Crealy, Sea Dragon Swing Ship at Woodlands or the Pirate Ship Swingboat at Paultons. In order to get the maximum thrill out of it, I sat in an end row. Another mega fun ride, but one go was enough. I think a second go straight off would have made me sick. I’ve managed two goes straight off on the Devon’s Crealy one before, but for some reason one go was enough on this.
Someone else from the Club asked me what I was going to do next. I said the ERS on Mumbo Jumbo is supposed to be at 6pm, and it was almost that time. He said it’s now 7pm, because the Park was being kept open to the public an extra hour. This was a blessing and a curse. The good thing was it meant I had an extra hour to fit in some of the rides that I’d not yet done. On the other hand, I really wanted to catch the 19:25 bus off Kirby Misperton Roundabout, to connect with the 19:50 bus from Malton Bus Station, to reach York at 20:23. I particularly wanted to travel at that time in order to get a meal in York around 8:30pm, e.g. Pizza Hut or perhaps Wetherspoons Piccadilly. The next travel option available to me was a bus off Kirby Misperton Roundabout at 20:05, arrive Malton Bus Station 20:21, for the 20:50 bus to York, arrive 21:23. Getting dinner that late might be a problem, Wetherspoons was serving food until 10pm, but in any case that would be a bit late to be having a meal. I hoped that I’d be able to get fish and chips in Malton between arrival and departure. Anyway I saw the extra hour as a chance to ride some rides that I still hadn’t been on, e.g. Wild Mouse, Lost River Ride.
Wild Mouse
I headed straight for Wild Mouse, and thankfully the waiting time for it was short compared to early afternoon. When it was my turn, I got into a mouse, headed up to the top and went for a thrilling ride zig-zagging around the top. In the latter part of the ride, the mouse went down hill and there was some AIRtime on a dip before the end of the circuit.
Having left Wild Mouse, someone told me our ERS was now 6:30. Decided therefore to have a go on Cliff Hanger to be near Mumbo Jumbo. In which case I wouldn’t have time for Lost River Ride, but never mind.
Cliff Hanger
My second go for today on this drop tower. It was the only ride I went on more than once.
I enquired at Mumbo Jumbo about our ERS, it was now to be at 7:00. That meant there was still time for me to go on Lost River Ride after all.
Lost River Ride
There was now a very short wait for this, goodness knows what it was like mid afternoon. Unlike a log flume, this one has loads of riders at once in a large boat. There were still two boats in operation at the time. I put my cagoule on in an effort not to get wet. I noticed it’s quite a long way around before you even go up the hill. Much longer than any log flume I’ve ever been on. Once at the top, the descent was ahead of me, and with it a mighty splash on landing. Some water went through the long zip on my cagoule, so the bottom front of my T-shirt got a bit wet, as did my shorts.
As I left this, the ride was closed. Other rides were also closed, except Mumbo Jumbo which was still open for our use only.
Mumbo Jumbo ERS
At long last, one hour later than planned, it was time for our ERS, so I headed straight for Mumbo Jumbo. Everyone else was waiting here now. I told member (can’t remember who) I’d just been on Lost River Ride, that person replied “Your’re not very wet”, and said I’d put my cagoule on in an effort to stay dry on that. Barry laughed when I told him I’d put my cagoule on not to get wet on Lost River Ride.
Once again someone asked if I’d ridden Mumbo Jumbo yet, and was surprised I hadn’t. I explained that I wanted to ride other rides during the day, and save Mumbo Jumbo for the ERS.
I joined the queue for Mumbo Jumbo, and spoke to Bradpeet whilst queuing. As I neared the front, the ride cut out. There was a short delay whilst the engineer came to reset it.
At last I was on the ride. My first and only go on this today. This differs quite a bit from SAW at Thorpe Park. On Mumbo Jumbo, the car set off up the lift, which was a steep uphill slope, not vertical as in Rage (Adventure Island Southend) or SAW (Thorpe Park). Once at the top, it was time to face the 112° initial drop. Wow, what a strange sensation going over that before the “normal downhill” descent the rest of the way. From there the car went uphill, around several bends, and there was a sideways inversion of some sort. Finally back to the station. Once again, a mega fun ride, all over too soon.
As I left the ride, the queue was closed. The staff were not sure if they’d be able to let any more on. Several were already waiting where it was roped off at the entrance. Just afterwards they said they can let a few more on. But as the time was now 7:48 pm, I backed off. There was already a sizable number going on. I wanted to be back at Kirby Misperton Roundabout well before the 20:05 bus to Malton. I had my picture taken with a couple of other members, and then ran for the Park exit.

Highlights
Gorgeous hot sunny day for the trip.
Meeting members I’d met on previous Club trips again (including Andy Hine, Alan Chilvers, Bradpeet, Barry, Bunnie), as well as Penny and Sam who I don’t remember seeing previously.
Visiting a theme park I’d never been to before, and hence riding rides I’d not ridden before.
Velocity takeover and Mumbo Jumbo ERS.
Adding six more steel coasters (Velocity, Corkscrew, Dragon Coaster, Kumali, Wild Mouse, Mumbo Jumbo) to my coaster count.
Having my first ever go on a brand new roller coaster (Mumbo Jumbo) during an ERS within a Club Trip that took place the day that coaster first opened to the public, an achievement to be proud of.
Lowlights
Long to very long queues for the “better” rides much of the day.
After waiting about 15 to 20 minutes, getting on Flip Flop and the alarm going off (thus having to exit the ride).
Only having time for one go on Mumbo Jumbo during the ERS (I would have liked two or three).
Summing Up
On the whole another super Club trip, well done to Nev for organising it. Even though this was a relatively simple one-day trip (no evening entertainment as in Blackpool Bash, or flights / hotels / coaches / multiple park admissions as in USA 2009), he still had to arrange a group booking and an ERS in advance for this trip. Best of all it was sunny for the bulk of it. Okay the sky clouded over by the start of the ERS on Mumbo Jumbo, but at least it stayed dry thereafter.
Sorry I was unable to make Lightwater Valley on Sunday. Nev gave me a voucher for Lightwater Valley whilst waiting to go on Mumbo Jumbo. I explained that getting there would be long winded, having to catch a train to Leeds for an onward bus to Ripon. I pointed out that in order to get there around 10:00, I’d need to ask for a packed breakfast (if that can be done where I stayed in York) in order to be able to leave really early (7ish); failing that have breakfast as normal at my guest house and not get to Lightwater Valley until around midday. Nev told me not to worry about getting there late, it’s only an informal meet-up, not a Club trip. Thanked him for the voucher anyway. I hope those of you who were able to do Lightwater Valley on Sunday had as much fun as for the Summer Bash on Saturday.
Not sure when I’ll next attend a Club trip, I’m currently not intending to do Mega-GLOW-Mania this August or either day of Loopathon this October. If the proposed “meet at the park” Family Funday at Funland Hayling Island goes ahead on 12 September attending that shouldn’t be a problem for me. I definitely won’t be doing the ski trip at Val D’Isere next January. If I don’t see you before, see you at Blackpool Bash 2010 next April.

Another of the Park’s mighty coasters. The train set off up the lift, and a thrilling course followed, including an inversion of some sort (not a vertical loop). |
Errrrrr i'm guessing that inversion would be a 'corkcsrew' inversion

Well yes my report is definitely shorter than my RCCGB Blackpool Bash 2009 and Nemesis Nick's Devon Dash 2009, but then again, the Summer Bash was just one day, like SAW-Ted in March. My report this time is of similar length to my report for SAW-Ted.

I agree though, it didn't take as long to read as some of his others.

Great report (Nemesis) Nick
Lots of information in there, but in a format that is easy to read. Still a comprehensive account of the day.
I certainly appreciate you keeping it shorter than your previous accounts. It means that I can read it through, rather than 'speed reading' through a lot of detail.

I think i can do one longer than the mighty "Nemesis Nick" ! lol
For me , the trip was over 3 days as on the way to my Hotel in Malton near york , I stopped off at Prestwold Hall driving center to do an Audi R8 driving experience. On the M1 it absolutely threw it down with rain (which made me panic lol). Upon arrival the rain was still pouring but after a few minutes my parents (who went in my dads company car as my dad also did the R8 driving experience). Anyway , We went into the reception area where we had to book in , Sign an insurance waiver form to say that we would pay £20 each to be insured if we were to crash the car (if we didnt pay the £20 we would have to pay £2000 towards the repair of the car - Yikes !). Anyway , Forms signed , off to the briefing room where we were told about the events and watched a video (oops sorry - dvd) about what we were doing and they showed a clip of a ferrari 355 which had been smashed in the back end ! OUCH ! - £4500.00 to repair).
After the Briefing it was time to go out on the track driven round in a Ford Focus ST (Me and my dad and one other person were driven round in a Bright Orange one). We were driven round for 3 laps which was good to say the least and showed how quick the car is. After the Demo laps it was time to grab a crash helmet and to make our way to where the R8's were parked up (they have 3 of them).
It was my turn to get into my R8 for my 4 laps - i had a woman instructor (no women drivers jokes please ! She was brilliant and got me round the track in one piece !). Upon entering the car i had to give the insrtuctor a photo pass and also a usb dongle as i was being filmed whilst driving the car ! (top gear eat your heart out !). Once i had got my seat all set up it was time to make way onto the track !.
Into 1st gear and oh dear ! I stalled it ! Yes i openly admit i stalled an audi R8 ! lol. Anyway , The car was re-started and onto the track i went and boy is the R8 a quick car ! - 0-60 in 4.5 secs , 4.2 v8 and 420 b.h.p !. 4 laps latrer i was back in the pits when the instructor realised that the camera had stopped recording when i stalled it so i was sent out for another lap (which turned into 2 !). The driving experience was absolutely Brilliant !. After the session it was time to pick up the photos which were put onto a cd and one of them which was picked out by myself was printed out and framed and my in-car footage was checked out to make sure it would play fine.
A quick drink and it was time to get some pics of other cars they had available for driving round the track and a video was done for youtube. After this it was time to make my way to the hotel in Malton.
Flamingoland
This was my first trip to Flamingoland and the weather was 100% better than the previous day. Once getting my Wristband and ticket it was time for a group shot (my first one u could actually see me in). After that it was time to go over to Velocity for a ride takeover. I held on for the first time as i wasnt too sure about it. The seating position is very interesting to say the least. Then it was onto the Disk'O' for a ride followed by members going into the SpongeBob Squarepants 4d thingy which i didnt do. When the others of my group came out from doing the 4d thingy it was time to get a quick drink followed by a visit to the Splash battle ride and flip flop which i just did videos for youtube as well as getting photos of the rides. I had to tell a few members off when they were about to spray me and then realising i had a video camera in my hand ( This was quite funny as it goes lol) after my group members going on the wet rides a couple of other members joined up with us and it was time to get some lunch in the metropolis which was good and good value too.
After lunch , back out into the park ia few members of my group went onto the swings followed by the Wild mouse , Corkscrew (ouch!) and then a quick break for drink and some photos of the Mumbo Jumbo which funnily opened the same day of our club trip there ! Hmm.
It was then time to go onto Kamali which had a long queue and had only train running and the staff were slow at loading the train which was running. After Kamali it was time to get onto a train into the zoo area to see some of the animals on show including the last sealion show of the day followed by a quick walk to the reptile house - and did they have some lovely snakes. A quick trip on the cow themed monorail and another go on Velocity which i did no handed (got to ride coasters hands in the air eh ?). Then it was time to join all the members who were over at Mumbo Jumbo for the e.r.s . I did 2 rides on it as i was a bit uncomfortable with the shoulder harnesses. After the e.r.s a few of us went back into the Metropolis restaurant for dinner. We were joined by Andrew and Mary Knight and we had a great laugh.
After that it was back to the hotel for the night.
Lightwater Valley :
This was also my first time at this park so i wasnt too sure what too expect. I waited for some of my group members to turn up but they were delayed so Nev got me to go in with Himself and others including Christine Hine , Alan Chilvers and others (sorry guys and girls cant remember your names). First ride of the day had to be the Ultimate which i had heard different things about. On the way to the ultimate we saw some owls they had on display - a few pics were taken and Nev decided to out stare one of the owls which could have gone on for all day - well funny lol. Then time to get in the queue for the ultimate. This is certainly an interesting ride as im sure my body wasnt sposed to bend in ways it was whilst going round the second part of the track. Then it was time to go on the sewer rat ride which was quite good (we did discover that the ride brakes work !). Then it was time to go over to the skate park where members (including a certain Andy hine) were racing round the track which was funny to watch ! I recorded members of the club on the track for a video on youtube. There was NO cheating involved - Isnt that right Mr Hine ?.
After that i joined up with the members of the group i went round with at Flamingoland. Another ride on the ultimate was in order !. Then it was time for some lunch , followed by a ride on the Wild mouse - we did have some in queue time entertainment. After that , it was time for another go on the ultimate.
It was then time to go home after a quick photoshoot and shop visit and time to say goodbye to other members.
I had a great time and wouod like thank the following people : Andy hine , Christine Hine , Alan Chilvers and all of the other members who let me be part of their group for getting into the park and for letting me go round with them on the ultimate and the sewer rat ! Thanks guys you made my day great ! the in queue entertainment provided by Nev was good too !
thanks to you all !
Hope my report wasnt TOO long but was longer than Nemesis Nicks lol.
Hope it didnt put u all to sleep lol.
Bring on Oakwood !

I've now uploaded my video of the Mumbo Jumbo Opening on You Tube, click here to enjoy it.
Some of you may remember that on the day, I asked if there was going to be an opening speech, and was told it's best to stand facing where the cars leave the station.
