If it has closed again, that's disappointing. I would certainly like to ride it again.

Doesn't appear to be any announcements of closure on their website

I have heard rumours for a couple of years that the coaster would go at some point in the near future, but have never seen anything actually confirmed.

thanks Dave.
This is what was reported by the other lot.
"Speed at the Nascar Cafe has been closed. the premier built ingenieur buro stengel gmbH designed coaster opened in 2000 as part of the Sahara Hotel, but like a lot of rides in Las Vegas it never really took off.
The coaster uses two sets of linear induction motors to propel the train along the open ended course that contains a loop and a vertical spike.
Theres no news at present as to the fate of the ride, but it was custom designed for the site so selling it may not be that easy. it was generally agreed that it was the best coaster in vegas, so it is a shame to see it going."
there arent many coasters left in vegas even though its meant to be the adults playground of the world.
last time i was there i rode the one at top of the stratosphere and also the one at circus circus and of course speed at the sahara.
i sadly didnt manage to get to bufalo bills but maybe next time.
are there any more just outside vegas or would it take an all day road trip to get to them.

There a couple in Nevada not mentioned...
There's the Manhattan Express which is part of the New York, New York casino complex.
Also, just outside the Vegas Strip in the main town, there's 2 small kiddie coasters. One in a Pizza Shop and a small Dragon coaster at the Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix park a few miles away from the main strip.
The other coaster in Nevada is the Desparado at Buffalo Bill's in Prim Valley Resort (on the Nevada/California state line). This isn't far from Vegas by car, and could easily be done in a day trip.

thanks Matt
i totally forgot about Manhattan Express at New York New York. i rode that twice and it certainly shakes you about a bit.
Nev did mention Desparado at Buffalo Bill's when he gave me some advice on where to go but as i forgot to take my driving licence so hiring a car was out of the question.
