Let's hope the Thanet Councillors push ahead to restore one of the icons of roller coastering!

Recently the council forced the owners to erect security fencing around
the Scenic Railway and the park to try to stop it being wrecked further.

If your interested and don't already know then goto www.savedreamland.co.uk they have all the latest news on the Campaign.
Interestingly they are also giving a big chunk to Littlehampton. I'm really pleased by that as Littlehampton is a really nice place, and has a great little kiddies fun fair. It'll be interesting to see what the money has been ear marked for.

I cannot make it, but hopefully a few more "local" members can support this event.

I`m busy that day but i also dream of Dreamland. I`m bored of waiting and i`ll believe it when i see it. But i would love it, support it and fund it with me riding! : )

I'm also busy on Sunday... however, I hope all goes well. I would really like to see the place restored and the scenic railway working again.
I look forward to the day I see a post on here asking for volunteers to turn up with a hammer, bag of nails and some tins of white paint. I'd be well up for an "action day" of helping to restore the coaster, i'm sure many other members would too. (so long as it doesn't clash with a club trip !)

Yes, I can imagine it I suddenly recall of of Nev's stories about Christine and an automated nail gun on some coaster somewhere!!!
All the same, i'm hoping it could be done one day, even if it is only with manual hammers, 20ft between each volunteer, hard hats and steel toe cap shoes (they could even close one lane of the nearest motorway, and close the local railway line (bus replacement services), and a whole host of other great H&S initiatives) as it's for such a good cause

Some progress at last - I hope it actually happens this time. Dreamland for the 2012 Summer Bash! The Scenic Railway was my first coaster.

More than that. I thought i read someplace that Nev organised his first ever meet up at Dreamland 20 odd years ago. If we get this place back and it has The Scenic, as well as King Solomon's, the rebuild of the Rhyl Log Chute and other classics, this should be a calendar main stay to show support.
Come on, Nev loves classic, see Knoebels, so if this place has more wood than a rain forest and classic rides, he should love the place.
Scenic Railway was also my first coaster. I`m having first ride on the rebuilt Scenic Smiler. Or its pistols at dawn!
