No Hot Ice in 2009Here is news of the latest worrying development from BPB. | Lea wrote: | Pleasure Beach, Blackpool has today announced that Hot Ice will not be performed during the 2009 season.
Managing Director of Pleasure Beach, Amanda Thompson, said
‘This has been an extremely difficult decision to take, due to the importance of live theatre within our industry and the importance of live theatre within our resort.
The Arena needs extensive renovation work, which will take much longer than we had originally anticipated. We hope that the show will return in the not too distant future.
Live entertainment remains an integral part of the Pleasure Beach experience and we will be announcing our 2009 shows programme in the New Year.’
The Children’s Christmas Ice show will still be taking place between 22nd December 2008 and 1st January 2009. The Arena remains open throughout 2009 for public skating sessions, please visit our website at www.pleasurebeachresort.com for further information.

Over the last day or so all mention of the theatre pass and the £5 freedom pass have gone from the PB site.
Worrying times ahead for BPB maybe?

Shows like Hot Ice are quite expensive to put on and may not necessarily pull in additional revenue to pay for itself. Will less people go to PBB because Hot Ice is axed? How many people paid to see it?
During the credit crunch we all have to make savings and I'm sure this is one of those savings. PBB will save huge amounts on staff costs, both performers, seamstresses and techie crew etc. plus electricty costs will go down as high power lighting and sound systems won't be used.
We all know how much Amanda loves her shows so Hot Ice wouldn't have been axed unless it was an absolute must.

We are hearing that Forbidden looks to have been scraped for the 2009 season as well as hot ice.
Also the South Beach musical show is to become the South Beach magic show.
