most missed steelie

Most missed steel roller coasters
coastergraham

This is a very tough choice as I miss Magnum, The Bullet and Thunder looper as much as one another.

However I went with Thunder Looper in the end as it had a certain something about it, add to that the amazing stomach lift as well when coming back.

It is a real shame that since the days of Thunder Looper and Nemesis being at Alton Towers the park has put lame rides in like Oblivion and Air.

Thunder Looper by far, theres some good others on that list but I think TL edges it for me. Great ride, and taken out in its prime!

Thunder Looper without a moments hesitation. Before Nemesis, it was the first thing you could hear when arriving at the car park. That classic hiss-bang of the station brakes.......makes me want to go to Brazil just for another ride on the old girl!

Thunder looper  Cool
Bambi

I have only been on 2 (Corkscrew and Black Hole) out of this list, so I have not voted, but out of these two, its got to be the Black Hole by far!

I can really remember the lift hill, with the red and white twirling stripes, but I can also remember the sharp brakes!

Black hole at Alton for me think it was a great ride very strange lift hill etc dont get that on coasters much any more. Not many well hardly any good indoor coasters in the uk any more so black hole for me.

Corkscrew, just for the experience of a Vekoma classic, and the lift
Bullet, totally different ride altogether, thanks Anton
Magnum, another Anton classic, and hard to miss heading to the park from the Malton- Pickering road.

I missed out on Thunderlooper, saw it in action, but chickened out, had one go on Nemesis and spent most of the day on the Beast, back seat.
The old Tower of Terror at Camelot is operating up at Loudon Castle, but with out the Castle Tower.
towerofterror1989

As i live close to Camelot and just over an hour from Alton Towers, Thunder Looper and Tower of Terror were my fave.  I loved Tower of Terror because of the castle.  It was superb going round the loop enclosed. Only a small coaster, but the castle really made this roller coaster one of my best memories. I must have over 6 hours camcorder film of it and have ridden it over 500 times since 1990 and 2000 (I was the last member of the public to ride it before being closed forever in it's original castle).

10 years of superb Anton Schwarzkopf magic the 1979 Tower of Terror. Opened by Phillip Scholfield in 1989. hence my forum name!!.

Thunder Looper was awesome, was my second schwarzkopf looping coaster ride of 1990, Tower of Terror being the first.  I went twice to Alton Towers, first in May to ride it, it still under maintenance checks then in June when it opened. i loved it.  even raised my arms on the launch!!

That is why i feel it sad that we are loosing so many parks.  American Adventure had so much opportunity, just lack of support and funding.

Camelot still may close. North west of england will be so boring when that happens.  No more rescued schwarzkopf coasters in the north west.  Sad

Here, here...The Black Hole was simply the best indoor dark coaster of its time, (Possibly would still be today coming to think of it). The looping hill lift, the fact you couldn't hardly see your hand in front of you, (unlike Space Invader which may aswell be outdoors), the brakes at the end which sent you flying into the person sat in front of you, all made for an 'On the edge of your seat' experience.

Simply a classic...Maybe we could get Justin Lee Colins to do a coaster special 'Bring Back The Black Hole'.

Just a thought.

I agree with you. It was a great ride.

There are hardly any good indoor coasters in the uk anymore, so it would be Black Hole for me aswell.
