Mega-GLOW-Mania 2008

August 8th.

Just to let you know, I have spoken to the Park and it has been 100% confirmed that everything is fine for our trip in August.  There is no need to worry about any changes and the format will be the same as usual (Camp Oakwood, party on Mega, etc).  So start planning! Smile

Does the BBQ fun include the bit where Dan sets fire to everything?
frosty

First year as a club member so never done Mega-GLOW-Mania before.

During the bash festivities I will have to seek advice on all things Mega such as camp oakwood (tent) or bluestones accomodation (in which case I will need to find others to share), the art of tent erecting before and after collapse(!!!), barbeque specialities aka burnt offerings, and so much more!

Just to let you know, I sent the Mega-GLOW-Mania invitations today.  You should get them Tues/Wed.

Look forward to seeing you there.
Wozza

Razz Best start stocking up on the glowing stuff then!!!
bluea61

Hmm, may have to buy new glowing t-shirt.
bradpeet

I got my invite today  Very Happy

I just need to get my mate to decide whether he is coming with me or not now.

Has anybody any ideas for 'extension trips' (hint hint)  Coney Beach and Barry Island hardly seem worth re-visiting.  Looking at the roller coaster database, Brean and Weston-Super-Mare seem the only sensible possibilities for those of us from the North.
Bunnie

Got my invite today too, just gotta wait til payday now  Cool
stealth fan

Yep, got ours here in Stubbington aswell  Laughing
Nimmykins

Mine arrived too, but Paul and I will not be attending.
Please note, although the invitation says Sarah B, it's Ian who's organising camp.
frosty

Hi Sarah, it'a a shame you and Paul can't make Oakwood. The last time I saw you both was at the blackpool bash. I guess the next time may now be Loopathon?

I'm still pondering attending Mega-glow-mania and trying the camp oakwood experience, but nothings certain just yet. If I do the 'camping' bit then I will need to buy all the bits 'n' pieces. Tents go up real easy, right Smile

The ten pin bowling and crystal maze challenge sounds great. It may be time for the Frosty 'spinners' to knock those pins a' flying - virtual FB bowling has nothing on the real thing.

As to transport, unless there's space on offer with others heading out from London, then I will take the car, which will have space for 3-4 others. I'm not sure what time people normally arrive at the camp site, but that may be explained once I email for details as per the invite.

So, if anyone is contemplating going to Oakwood on the Friday, heading out from London along the M4 route, and their transport is not fully planned out, feel free to msg me.

There are always lots of members around that can help with putting up tentage, however if you have not yet purchased one i would highly reccomend buying a quickdraw tent.  you can find these on the Argos website !

We als cannot manage to get to Oakwood this year. We hope that Megaphobia is repaired in time for you to have the normal fantastic
time at Oakwood. See you all on another occassion.
Bunnie

Whats the news on Meggys repair?

Is it still down at the moment?
Auntie Murial

It is up & running, it only went down for a short while, i have checked with the park.

That's great news. It's my first Mega-Glow-Mania and I don't want another 'Maverick' incident  Very Happy

I was really looking forward to riding Maverick but unfortunately it was not running during our coaster-krazy visit to Cedar Point.
stealth fan

This proves that wood IS good.
This, I think, Is the first downtime Meggie has had. Glad it's up and running for our trip. Not long now folks  Laughing
Auntie Murial

On screamscape it says that there was a small fire on the rides lift motor!!

The park did not mention this when i spoke to them yesterday but they did say it is up and running again.  It apparantly cancelled another club's ERS.
STEALTHYBUTBAD

May be something to do for people on the way back down south from wales. Carters have set up on the seafront at Weston Super Mare, running from 2nd August 2008 - 25th Aug...

Rides in attendance:
Ark
Carousel
Chairoplane
Dodgems
Dive Bomber
Park Swings
Skid
Steam Yachts
Juvenile rides
Antique arcade & games etc.

If you haven't seen them, Carters have a beautifully preserved collection of classic fairground attractions, engines, vehicles - all restored & maintained in stunning condition.
Auntie Murial

Carters are fantastic.  They have four fairs in Reading every year!  A fantastic piece of heritage.

Any one who is visting barry island on the way there or back and who likes there play parks could visit this little fun park.
