Lightwater valley 13/10/07Just arrived back home after a pretty good day out at Lightwater Valley.
It was the first time I had been there in about 15 years so it was always going to be interesting to see the ultimate again after its over the shoulder days of much pain.
The park itself was very quiet , it was also quite tidy as well and in the main the ride staff were friendly as well.
As for The Ultimate, well I have never been on a ride you could describe in so many ways, poor, really good, dull, manic, boring, brutal, tame and thrilling are words I would use to describe this ride. It has too many dull spots but the snake section through the trees is as intense, rough and wild as you will ever encounter on any ride. Is it a British treasure or is it a British nightmare, who really knows, it really is like that!!
Todays ride count
Skyride - 1
The Rat - 8 (still great fun many years on )
The Ultimate - 6 (a lesson in pain in the back car )
Grizzly Bear - 1 (yawn!!!)
Eagles Claw - 3 (great ride, does far more than vortex at thorpe)
The Twister - 3
The Wave - 1
Total ride count - 23 which is not bad considering the rides were only open 6 hours
Highlights
- Next to no queues, the longest being 15 mins for the ultimate
- Meeting a lovely couple from Beverley who are fairly new to the club, loopathon being there first club trip
Lowlights
- The insect fest on the ultimate in the morning (keep your mouth closed
- A few too many noisy hyper kids with no manners on the park today
On the whole a great time, not too much to do after the major rides but well worth a visit a year
