Kings Island 22/5 & 23/5

Kings Island turned out to be a bit of a let down of a park and Diamondback being the biggest letdown of a ride after all the rave reviews I had heard about the ride. More about that later.

Being next to such a large area Kings Island has a reputation of being a busy park and on both days this turned out to be the case, on Friday with quite a few school trips and on Saturday very busy in general.

Most of the staff at the park seemed to fall under any of the following catergories, slow, stupid, miserable. Sometimes they had a combination of the 3 or even had all 3. There were the odd couple of good staff but they were few and far between sadly.

Like Cedar Point the catering prices in the park were a total rip off, it is all ok charging a good price to get in but then when you are in they really do sting you.

RIDE REVIEW

Diamondback, I expected so much from this ride given the reviews but all I got was a tame and lame B&M hypercoaster. It offers decent gentle airtime at parts of the ride, but overall it is way too smooth and feels slow as well. Nitro at GA was far better and I can honestly say I would take the Big One at BPB over Diamondback anyday. 5/10

The Beast, looking at the videos of this ride it is one that I thought I would not rate. But never go off what you see until you get chance to ride it. It has pace and power and does it job very well even though it is trimmed to death. The drop from the 2nd lifthill into the tunnel for the helix is sensational. For me this was the best ride at KI. 8/10

Son of Beast, waste of time, horrible trains with too much hunting on them. 3/10

Vortex, not a bad ride for an arrow mulitlooper, but repeat riding does make you hurt a little from the rough areas. 6/10

Firehawk, A vekoma flying coaster and so much better than the B&M ones I have done. Lying on your back in the station and going up the chain is very weird. The vertical loop was great as well. The only things that detract from the ride is the Vekoma roughness and the uncomfortable restraints. But for them it would have pushed The Beast for best ride. 7/10

Drop Tower, It may be the worlds biggest drop tower but it does not mean it is the best. Apocolypse at Drayton Manor and Detonator at Thorpe park are far better rides. 5/10

The Racer, A fairly average woodern racing coaster, or at least it would race when the staff could be bothered. 5/10

Flight Deck, The best Arrow swing coaster I have done and with just the one lifthill as well. 6/10

Flight of fear, Premier rides in the dark LIM coaster. Not too bad but the launch is pretty lame. I would have hated to gone on the ride when it had overhead restraints as it is a very choppy ride. 6/10

The Crypt, Huss top spin in the dark. Avoid like the plauge as it is more an observation ride than a thrill ride. Dire setting for what the ride can do. 3/10

Stunt Coaster, Premier rides LIM coaster themed like mini coopers. Not great white knuckle thrills but good fun. 6/10

Invertigo, Vekoma inverted boomerang ride that is very rough. 5/10

HIGHLIGHTS

- Not many other than the Beast turning out to be a lot better than expected.

LOWLIGHTS

- Not a very thrilling line up of rides tbh. They have plenty of rides but a lot of them dont get you going much.
- A very busy park and quite a few dubious people going there as well from what we saw.
