KenyaSome of you may be aware my partner Paul and I didn't make it to Oakwood as we went to an old school friend's wedding.
Our chum Angelo was married on Friday, August 8 in Kenya, and we had a great time.
We had the flight from hell on the way there. Delays, wrong aircraft, no premium cabin (yes we're asking for our money back), heat, stop over in Cairo etc... bleugh.
Kenya was great though. Our hotel was pleasant with stunning grounds with coconut palms and views across the Indian Ocean.
The beach was sheltered by a coral reef, so we could see the waves breaking further out, but it wasn't rough close to the shore. I went out on the little white boat you can see in some of the photographs and did a little snorkelling.
Our friends Tara and Angelo's wedding was lovely. Paul and I went to school with Angelo, as did our friends Dom and Caroline (another couple) and Stephen, who also came on holiday. Tara's oldest bestest friends were her bridesmaids, and there were members of her family there, too. The hotel staff commented how there were more people than usual.
The food was great. I particularly liked a stew of black eyed beans cooked in coconut milk. It was probably the best thing there. Caroline S (a close friend since we were 11) and I really liked the red beans for breakfast.
We saw some great wildlife without going on safari. We weren't there long enough sadly.
