Holiday World 20/5 & 21/5After yet another long drive, this time just short of 8 hours and a 420 mile drive we arrived in the searing heat of Santa Claus, Indiana at around 11:30. But for long traffic delays around Cincinati we would have been there an hour earlier.
Holiday World is a park a lot of people may not have heard about, but it has always been one park I wanted to go to just to try the woodies that the park has. So this time we decided to bite the bullet and make the long detour down there. So was it worth it?
You bet it was as I now have a new favourite ride and a park that is a very special place to me.
The park is immaculate, everything is clean and tidy and the staff are simply the friendliest bunch of staff to ever work at a theme park. For example at the end of the day when we walked back up from the voyage loads of staff walking past us wished us a good day, a safe journey home or thanking us for choosing to spend our day with them. They really are that friendly!!
Another thing that was superb about the place was that they are not out to rip you off. A two day ticket cost $59, car parking is free as is soft drinks and sunscreen if you forget your own. Food prices are very resonable as well with a slice of pizza, fries and a cookie for $4.95, plus you get your drink free as well remember.
This is a park where the staff from top to bottom take great pride in the place, where else would you see a park owner (Pat Koch) helping out in the restaurant at dinner for example by slicing pizzas?
On both days the park was a little busy in the morning with school kids on trips, but after dinner most of them went in the excellent looking water park. Again no extra charge. The ride capacity was excellent as well as you will see with the ride counts.

RIDE REVIEW
- The Voyage, I thought El Toro was amazing but this ride blows it and everything else out of the water. This is the most amazing ride I have ever been on by some distance. It has everything you could ever want, height, speed, airtime, tunnels and ride length. This is one very long ride that really does take you on a voyage. I counted that I came out of my seat 20 times during the rides course, this is an airtime machine and riders spend about 24 seconds of the ride off there seat. It has three 90 degree banked turns and many changes of direction while you are out of your seat. 100/10 (It really is that amazing)
- The Raven, when it was built it was awarded the worlds best woodie and with good reason. It has amazing speed and goes on a real charge through the trees and by the side of the lake. It may be a tad on the short side but it really gives a great ride. 9/10
- The Legend, the weakest of the 3 imo, but still a really good ride. The reason I did not ride it as much as the other two was that the sustained laterall movement found the weakness in my back. 8/10
- Pilgrims Plunge, the worlds tallest water ride. It does seem to be having a few techinal problems like some brand new rides do but the ride itself is amazing. The lift mechanism itself is pretty unnerving. As for the drop, well you can tell it is as tall as it is as it goes on forever and you get really wet as well. 10/10
- Liberty launch, not a rollercoaster but I thought I would include it. A S&S spacshot. Half the height of a lot of other ones, but twice as good. It gives more airtime than any spaceshot I have ever been on and twice as well!!
HIGHLIGHTS
- The park was a joy to be at for all the reasons above.
- Stunning woodies.
LOWLIGHTS
- Having to leave to park, we had such great time and wished we could have gone back the day after.
