Heath Ledger RIP

I've just heard Heath Ledger has been found dead in a Manhatten apartment.

How sad for his family and particularly his two year old daughter who will never know him.

I didn't realise he was found only three hours ago!

Just heard about this, it has really shocked me. How awful for his family. What is it with celebrities and drugs??
Death

Hail All! Sad
This is the first that I've heard of it, and I am also sad at this news. I never saw Brokeback Mountain myself, but it is one film that I have been hoping to see for quite some time. Shocked

A lot of my friends (Many of whom are homosexual) really appreciated the movie - Not for purely altristic reasons, but more because it contributed in part to homosexuality becoming more tolerated and accepted in todays society - Something that still needs a lot of work on IMO. I for one know that some of my friends'll be very unhappy at this news. Sad

Farewell Heath...Thy work may have been in film, but ye contributed so much more to the community. We will miss ye... Sad

Very sad news, he was just two months older than me.  He was a legend and i loved fils like Brokeback Mountain and A Knights Tale.

A legend of an actor who will be sadly missed.

Apparantly it was not suicide according to this article i have just read http://news.sky.com/skynews/artic...ICIDE_FAMILY&lpos=TAB_CONTENT

The saddest thing about his untimely death is that he apparently died alone. My thoughts go out to his friends family and daughter.

It might have been an overdose but they beleive it was presciption drugs etc! not the likes of crack etc...

i think his departure is a great lose to the film industry he was truely the actor of his generation, i hope th new batman film will a tribute to him Smile
stealth fan

Until now I had never heard of him, though I'm not really into films. Definatley a shame though, that someone that talented should die so young.

Worse still - Aside from Heath's recent death itself - I was passing through Stansted Airport on Wednesday afternoon and saw a news report on a BBC News 24 monitor in the departures lounge that a proposal to erect a memorial to Heath Ledger (Maybe in New York) has been met with opposition from the homophobic arm of America's population, many of whom said very abusive things about his sexuality etc. Evil or Very Mad

Now not only is that the most disrespectful thing to say about such a well known and loved actor, but the idiots didn't even have the decency to do some basic background research - Heath was (As far as I can ascertain) actually 100% hetrosexual, the fact that he sired a daughter is proof enough of that! Smile
After all, ye don't need to be gay to play the role of a gay person...I just wish more people would realise that fact! Evil or Very Mad

Farewell... Sad

the more i read about him the more i feel for him and the path he choose, but at the same time he should have given it time

I've only just caught up with this. I was in a SoHo art gallery when a fleet of police cars amd ambulances went by. Wondering what the deal was, when I left the gallery I wandered in the direction they had been heading, and also saw a number of TV News vans. As it turns out, it was all for Heath Ledger. I stopped when I got to the end of the road, as I could see a huge crowd as well as the lights from the emergency vehicles. I did not know what it was all about untill I got back to the place I was staying.

News reports in the US said Heath had been having trouble sleeping since the start of filming for the new Batman movie, in which Heath was to play The Joker. Acccording to director Chris Nolan, Heath was only getting 2 hours a night, such was the intensity of the role. He [Heath] had been using over the counter sleeping aides, but was still suffering from insomnia.

I have only seen him in The Brothers Grimm, but have been meaning to see Brokeback Mountain for a while now.  Its such a tragic shame when a young talent is lost like this. Brendon Lee was another great actor taken at too young an age.
