Fuel ProtestingI got a email from fuelprices today to say about possible fuel protests from a company so looked in to this.
The following was taken from Transaction 2007.
The following statement is released on 10th December 2007 at 10:15Hrs
Transaction2007 have decided to release the date and time of protest action earlier than scheduled. This is to enable the motorist and public to better prepare themselves for the coming action.
A date of Saturday 15th December 2007 at 10:00am has been decided for protest action. This date was decided by members as the best possible to enable those who would normally be working during the week to attend. This action will be initiated at a refinery or storage depot somewhere near you. Anyone wishing to support action is requested to make your way there at the allotted time. Transaction again wish to emphasise the importance of legal protesting.
So there we go it is happening.

This will start panic buying.

I agree with Nimmykins. People will panic buy, and I have to use my car to get to work from High Wycombe to Slough (17 miles each way). There is no direct bus service or train available for me. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

If they are going to disrupt Christmas, i hope the government step in this time and do something to stop them.

Though I do think this can be a bad thing up to xmas. I am all for t if it works. I think i read somewhere that fuel this year has risen by 12p so far.The question I ask is when do's it become to high that we cannot afford to use our car as a pleasure. The other thing is food like bread has gone up because of Bio Fuel.
I am not panic buying just yet as if I run out we just don't go out for a while that is all.

Great to see someone fighting the ridiculous fuel prices on our behalf.

Its a great idea but again panic buying will happen.
I remember the last strike and people were panic buying everything! even water on the shelves were in shortage,
Petrol stations had petrol but for emergency services only, if it is going to be on that scale again they had best be more prepared this time round!

The problem with panic buying is that it creates more panic buying.
I work at a Tesco petrol station and the problems we have had in the past have not been because of the blockades but more because of people panc buying.
Tesco does not own any refinery so it has monthly quotas which they have to adere to. If they go over it then they do not get a delivery, simple as that.
The last time we had the mini crisis we had people waiting for over 30 mins to put in £2 to fill there tank up for pitys sake. There is enough fuel and any planned action will not have a significant effect as they will not be allowed to block depots like they did in 1999.
If there is a shortage it will be because the public at large will have caused it.
