Flamingoland ( uk ) New Coaster for 2009Flamingoland in Yorkshire will be adding a new S&S El Loco with a custom layout for the 2009 season. I find this very exciting news as i have always wanted to ride Steel Hawg at Indiana Beach, and this will be alot easier to get too.
The ride will feature a 125 degree first drop which will be more than Saw : The Ride at Thorpe Park.

Have to saying I'm looking forward to the El Loco experience as Steel Hawg looks rather funky. I especially like the look of those banked hairpins.
Hopefully their next coaster will be a woody

I am unsure about this tbh, it looks like being a gimmicky coaster like G-Force, but who really knows until you ride it?
From what I have been told 2010 may just be the year that Flamingoland come up with a woodie.

So that could be a woodie for Flamingoland and Alton Towers in 2010???

We can only hope, but at least there is hope this time round.

At least Flamingoland are trying to get coasters into their park... Too many parks in this country are doing nothing...! If they follow this proposed 2009 coaster up with a woodie in 2010, it will be worth visiting more frequently. If the woodie does go ahead, then the club will be visiting every year!!

How very exciting, seems like quite a few new coasters are on the Horizon for the UK. About time!

I agree with you Steve, it is about time that new coasters should be due at Uk parks for 2009

Could they have done a double ride deal with El Loco in 2009 and a S&S woodie in 2010? Time will tell.
Personally I hope the El Loco won't be as nasty and hideous as Seqoia Adventure, the Screaming Squirrel at Gardaland. It's called Screaming Squirrel because riders scream in pain whilst riding. I've yet to ride a pain free S&S coaster. But I will ride this latest offering and hope it'll be as good as it looks.

Upon visiting Flamingo land week I can say there are a few rides that need to go and would make a great place for both coasters. There has also been a lot of small rides gone in new in the park this year as well. All for the children. I can see Wild Mouse going and then maybe Corkscrew as they are both well past the sell by dates now and are looking tatty with all the new stuff in the park.

Personally I didn't mind Sequoia Adventure...a bit gimmicky, but OK. Falken (Farup Sommerland) was excellent on opening year and I believe has now been retracked and riding well, Avalanche at Timber Falls is excellent fun too. S&S's involvement in Powder Keg has resulted in a great coaster, in my opinion. Which S&S coasters didn't you like?
David.

Hypersonic XLC and Sequoia Adventure are in my worst 5 coasters. I'm also, I guess unfairly, lumping in X since that now comes under the S&S banner. Without a doubt the only coaster more hideous than X is The Rattler.
I forgot about Avalanche, that is a good coaster but pretty fierce and not pain free. However it is a good coaster that I enjoyed. So I'll amend my comment to "I've yet to ride an S&S steelie that isn't in my worst 5 coaster list".
I genuinely hope El Loco turns out to be the coaster it deserves to be. The reviews of Steel Hawg have been positive. 2009 looks a great year for the UK with at least 2 exciting and unique coasters coming to these shores. Flamingoland have done a great job with new rides over the past few years and El Loco should attract a fair bit of attention.
Now about Thorpe's steepest coaster claim. Apparently Thorpe have said El Loco doesn't count because it has a controlled decent, unlike Saw. Whilst El Loco is partially controlled on the decent, once it get beyond about 100 degrees the control element disengages. So surely El Loco genuinely freefalls through 120degrees making it steeper than Saw.
To me it sounds like Thorpe are clutching at straws so as not to loose the all important record breaking gimmick that every Tussauds coaster must have.

Flamingoland have now named the ride - Mumbo Jumbo.
Seriously

That name kinda works for me. It's a wacky unusual coaster so wants something a bit wacky as a name. Likewise S&S market El Loco as a family thrill coaster so the name doesn't want to be too intimidating or scary. I think Mumbo Jumbo pretty much hits the mark. I like it.
