Facebook???????Hi guys.
Hope you can help me here?
Can someone please explain what "Facebook" is all about and how it works, and most importantly......is it safe.
I really have no idea what it is about, and some people have told me not to bother, BUT if I do, never give your personel details?????
Any advice appreciated guys.
Thanks
Ryan

I think it's great.
Only thing I don't put on there is my address and date of birth.
You choose your friends and only they can see you if that is what you choose.
Just use common sense and I think it will be ok.
I don't get involved in all the poking etc, that all gets a bit too much.

Its a great way to catch up with friends and old friends. The things people have said dont ever put your personal things on there IE your home address telling people when your going on holiday etc as things do get around on there very quickly but other then that its great.

A short while ago Matt posted a bit of info and a link on the new Club Website thread which gave some good advice on what to disable to protect your security whilst on facebook. Here's an excerpt from that post.

While i'm here, can I point out to all Facebook users an excellent article that has been put together by Sophos - one of the leading anti-virus suppliers, that will help you configure your Facebook Profile security settings to help avoid being a victim of identity theft due to default weak settings. These settings help lock down your information away from random strangers, but doesn't prevent you from being sociable with your friends/groups etc.
This article can be found at : http://www.sophos.com/security/best-practice/facebook-profile.html
Thanks,
Matt.

Facebook is a social networking site.
You can put up photographs and catch up with old friends.
There are various levels of security. When you're setting your account up to can have it so only your friends can see things, or a wider network of people including friends of friends.
You can make it so secure that very few people can see you at all.
The club has a group and a fan page. You know lots of people on it.
