Dorney park - 29/5 to 30/5So onto the final park of our USA tour. In truth we only really did this park as we could get in with our Cedar Fair passes and it was pretty near to Newark Airport for the journey back home.
Dorney Park turned out to be the tale of two parks. On Friday it was hell on earth and most possibly the worst day out at a theme park ever. When we arrived we saw to our horror loads and loads of coaches of school trips. Now this was a site we had got used to but this was totally ridicolous as there must have been around 200 coaches and 10,000 kids in the park. There were queues for everything, it took 20 mins just to get food and drink.
Most of the kids were loud and badly behaved, there was line jumping like you had never seen before, kids running all over the place making just walking around hazardous. Even though the park was open until 10pm we only stayed until 5pm as we could take no more, you were truly losing the will to carry on. I went to guest services to complain about the amount of school trips the park had let in, a family at the next window were asking for there money back for the reasons I have stated. I hope they got a better response than we got as we did not even get a token sorry from the woman who was at our window. All we got was a "thanks for telling us" which sounding more like stuff you.
With that we left Dorney Park and never wanted to return, however on the Saturday we would have had little to do if we had not gone to the park again as our flight was not until 9pm, so was it any better?
It was a totally different park, it was nice and peaceful with a relaxed atmosphere. It was like going from hell to heaven in 24 hours. Dorney park showed just what a tidy place it can be on our final day.
The danger with letting so many kids in like on Friday is that guests will leave the park like us and never go back, which would be a real shame. For me Dorney park has to have a huge rethink about this or it will suffer for sure.

RIDE REVIEW
- Talon, A really good B&M inverted coaster with good elements and good force. I would have liked a few more rides on it but my feet were that badly blistered that the G's on the ride were killing me. 8/10
- Steel Force, Should be called Steel Farce. A truly boring ride. It may be 205ft tall and go up to 72mph but it does not make it any good. It is slow and lifeless for the most part and the airtime hills are the biggest joke ever. What Airtime?? 3/10
- Possessed, this is like diet Wicked Twister. The launch is jerky and slower and the straight up backwards section is nothing special at all. 6/10
- Hydra, every now and again a ride takes you by suprise and Hydra did that. Just when I had given up hope on B&M floorless coasters and B&M doing a ride that is intense or a tad rough anymore along comes Hydra. Not that it is that rough at all, but it is not glass smooth like the mega boring Kraken or Diamondback. The Zero G roll you do when you leave the ride station before you get to the chain makes for one of the best starts to a ride ever. The ride itself may not break any height or speed records but it does 6 inversions and is really great fun. I was once told that B&M do there best with mid size coasters, maybe that is right afterall. 10/10
So that was that, 5 parks in 14 days. 2,700 miles covered in the car. Great fun, sheer exhaustion, annoying, awesome, disapointing and amazing are all words I would use to describe our trip to the USA. But overall it was an amazing experience I would encourage any UK coaster fan to go and do.
Some rides in the UK are as good and maybe better. But some rides like The Voyage, Raven, El Toro, Hydra, The Beast and most at Cedar Point blow our rides out of the water. You have to try them one day.
Hope you enjoyed readin the TR's
