At least most of Disney's merchandise won't have too far to go to this park

Shanghai and Dubai look like future must do destinations with all these new parks being built there. Shame no one is building a major new park in the UK.

It is but it would most likely be a rerun of the proposed Warner Bros park from years ago.
Great plans but loads of objections. There ar too many nimbys in this country that is not just refering to theme park planning.

Call me old fashioned but to me, Disney is the whole American experience and I can't imagine getting that feeling elsewhere in the world, especially China.
I have been to Shanghai and it is a great place but I just can't imagine visiting a Disney park there.

I think the main problem with building a park from scratchin the UK is that you have a lot of initial investment and expect a good return beofre adding on.
Take Thorpe for example if you were to acquire the land and then build the coasters, flats, food places, arcades, toilets, entrance, dome, pathways, scenery, etc etc it would cost millions. You would then expect a good return before adding say the new coaster or new flat. Problem is people will get bored and not come in if nothing new is added.

Surely it doesn't matter what country a theme park is in. If it's a good theme park it should transform you to an imaginative land no matter where in reality it is built. Disney are the themeing masters so an Asian Disney park should be just as imersive as a US one.

Hong Kong Disney is themed very nicely, exactly as you would expect from Disney. The problem they have is that they did not open with many rides.... no Big Thunder Mountain, no It's a small world, no Pirates, no Haunted Mansion etc... Surely you would put at least a couple of these rides in from the start...! They just have a Space Mountain.

Surprisingly not... I waited about 5 mins for my first go on Space Mountain... then got a fast pass for another go later. The park was relatively new when I visited, they have put Autopia in now and a few other smaller things. I would not like to be there when its busy though...!
The park must of cost a fortune to build, they flattened mountains and all sorts to make it. They even have their own trains to get you out there from Kong Kong Island.

The problem i have with foreign disney parks, is not the rides or theming, but the fact that the charecters do not speak english, and to take paris for example, i think mickey mouse saying bonjour is silly, hehe

Yes it is ashame that no one is building a new park in the Uk, as there was supposed to be one being buit in South Wales near Newport back in 1998 as it was on the news and wouldn't have been too far for me.
Dubai certainly looks like the future destination for new parks.
