Disney ban children from top resort restaurant

I have come accross some news while on theme park insider that I thought worth posting.

WDW have decided to ban children under the age of 10 from their most exculsive restaurant at there most exculsive reosrt hotel - The Grand Floridian.

Do you think it is a good move by Disney to do this at its poshest hotel or do you think that Disney should not have done this as afterall Children are the main reason most familys go to WDW?

From reading the story it does say that WDW has got 97 other full service restaurants so I don't think changing one would make much of a difference to peoples views, especially as in the article it said that only three families a month had bought young children to the restaurant.

I wouldn't mind one of those 7 course dinners though....yummy  Very Happy

Never mind the food, I would just love to have enough money to stay at the grand floridian  Laughing

I don't see this as an issue at all. And having eaten there it's not really a family environment restaurant anyway.

If children are the main reason people go to Disney why do they have Pleasure Island, their adult only night club area. Like wise Disney Cruise Line has adult only areas including Palo's Restaurant, Wave Bands night club, Quiet Cove swimming pool, Adult Beach on Castaway Cay.

I guess what I'm saying is Disney have had adult only areas in their resorts for many years without problem, so why would this ruling be a problem.
Wozza

If this restaurant is indeed Disneys most exclusive, I see no issue at all with banning under 10's.

I wish a lot more restaurants/pubs in the UK would do the same.

I agree with Magic !   Disney is aimed for children of all ages, so us older children do need a place where we can go away from the little kiddies, hehe

I guess it was inevitable.

And I'll admit to liking to be able to get away from kids at times lol.

But it is sad that it goes against the very reason for the founding of the Disney Parks - Walt Disney wanted somewhere that was designed for the whole family to enjoy together, because nothing like it existed at the time.

Is this not the reason that there are no real 'big thrill' rides at Disney Parks?  (you can please all of the people some of the time etc)
Magic

No thrill rides in Disney parks? OK not hundreds but all the parks have at least one major thrill attraction not really kiddie friendly eg. Space Mountain at DLP, Rock n Roller and Tower of Terror at both Studios parks, Mission Space at Epcot, Califronia Screaming and Tower of Terror at DL etc.

Maybe the thinking is that just because your kids are in there 20's doesn't mean to say you won't want to go to Disney and maybe have time in a non childrens place. If that makes sense.
Happy Helen

It dosen't really make sense as WDW is supposed to b e for all ages so I don't think there is any reason why they should not allow children in one particular resturant.
