Chessington & Thorpe Park Map Charge?

Not having been to either park this year I am wondering if it is true what I have seen on the theme park Junkies site that both parks charge guests 50p for a park map?

If not do you think it is a good idea as it cuts down on wastage in times when we need to do more to cut down wastage.

If so do you think that it is a bit of a stealth charge to guests who have already paid enough to enter the park?

I personally think that all park maps should be scrapped, and at various points throughout the park they should have billboard maps for guests to look at, and friendly staff that are more than happy and willing to inform customers of ammenities and attractions that they require Cool

I am all up for recycling and cutting down on waste so i would like to see them rid of.

Maybe the parks should introduce souvenir park guides instead, this way people would not mind paying extra on top of there ticket prices.

When we went to chessington the map was free with the entrance one per family when your in the park the maps are 50p. I think I heard somewhere that this really does work well for the park.

I can see both sides of the coin with this one

On one hand guests have paid enough to enter the park so it does on the face of it seem very money grabbing to charge for a park map.

However you only have to see just how many park maps get chucked in the bins or on the floor to see why the parks are doing this.

I did like the surgestion of having plenty of park maps on boards dotted around the park.

I just hope that the parks motives are honerable rather than comercial.

I collect park maps and would hate to lose them completely. Just take one that somebody dumps. Its cheaper.

I'm all in favour of charging for park maps, I feel it puts people off just taking them for the sake of. I like the idea of having lots of maps around the park but they are always chaging so prehaps would have to be a printed map in a casing that can easily change??

As for Thorpe and Chessy, I know Chessy did last year but I don't know about Thorpe as we never actually asked for a map all season I think.
