Cedar Point Announces Newest ThrillCedar Point has announced its newest thrill, Shoot the Rapids, a water ride meant to simulate the wild white water rapids.
The 2,100-foot long journey is set to make a splashing debut in 2010.
The $10.5 million water ride will be the park's most expensive water park.
The water ride will be designed by IntaRide LLC, the same makers of the Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, the Millennium Force roller coasters and the Thunder Canyon river-rafting ride.
Park officials said 1,200 riders an hour will navigate the rapids in a 10-passenger boat that will climb up and fly down an 85-foot drop at a 45-degree angle, all the while being splashed.
The three-minute ride will make its way over Cedar Point's rustic Frontier Town and travel through a wooded area.
