Camelot - 11th April 2008

We headed over to Camelot on the Friday before the Bash to see just how good Knightmare was. We were both very impressed with the ride and were suprised just how smooth it was. It was running very quick and was absolutely flying when it rained.

The rest of the park was ok, the Whirlwind is a really good spinner and the diesel powered dragon is quite amusing. Especially when it gets on the straight and they floor it.

The jousting show was good, the usual good vs evil. I'm sure one of the "Evil" people was the guy they used to advertise Knightmare in the press release.

A good few ticks at the park and a nice gentle ease into the bash. It was very wet so kept people away which meant everything was walk on all day. All in all worth heading up there just to try out Knightmare.

There was a few of those guys there when they did the press day of Knightmare but he was the main one he is the one that does the jousting remember talking to him bout the ride great guy. Glad you like knightmare

I visited park on same day. Got to park just as Steve and co were leaving Laughing

We arrived within an hour and a half of ride close, but this was more than enough time to do the rides we wanted (not very many!).

Knightmare was stellar (God bless Schwarzkopf) and I'm glad that I've finally ridden it (was closed on last attempt). There was no queue, so we had a few repeat rides.

Whirlwind was surprisingly fun. We spend half of our second ride facing backwards before some major spinning action.

Our whistle stop visit ended with a couple of circuits on Dragon Flyer, the parks petrol powered coaster.

Didn't care for the two kiddie coasters so left the park after about 45 minutes (never to return Laughing).

I did a quick last min trip there on Saturday and must say Nightmare was a darn good coaster. I did all coasters for my count but not some where I would return in a hurry the park was just a little tatty for my liking. The Ghost  Train was designed by kids with really tacky paint work and really worse inside.
I have 1 more to do leaving 200 on first USA coaster yer.

Knightmare is superb but just a shame it is at Camelot.

Once you get past that, whirlwind and excaliber 2 there is little to do really for thrill seekers.

I think Knightmare would be a good addition to quite a few parks. The only improvement I think they need is the loading times. The queue moves so slowly waiting for the seat belts to be sorted out. Lucky it was so quiet.

Indeed. First they loosen all the belts once the passengers have exited then train, and THEN they have to adjust the belts once again when the next set of passengers get on board. Takes forever. Surely they can cut out the first half of the process?

Personally I feel the ride can do without belts as the lap bar provides more than enough security.

It ran in Japan for nearly 20 years without the need for them. Unfortunately Health & Safety feel we need to be wrapped in cotton wool.

Unfortunately the park was not so quiet on Sunday - there was a special event on, so the park was quite busy. Single train operation combined with the seat belt issues made for a 1h30 wait for myself and friends, and the queue wasn't that long. A bit disappointing really. The ride itself is great though.
