BPB - Friday 4th July

WHO WENT

Me
My Mum

After a horrible journey to BPB and not a great one back we did actually have a very good day on park enjoying some lovely weather in the process.

Due to an accident on the M6 and gridlock in Preston and the National Grid shutting a road in Preston to cause even more chaos to a town full of people trying to get around the blockage on the M6 the journey which should only take 45 mins took 2hrs!!

When we arrived at BPB we were surrounded by two coachloads of very noisy kids, then when tried twice to get wristbands with our season passes only to be told that the swipe was not working and to try elsewhere. At this point you start to think is the day out really meant to be for you.

However after dinner things did pick up well, considering the lovely weather and the poor forecast for the weekend the park was pretty quiet. The longest wait we had for PMBO was 3 minutes!!

We had two rides on the Rollercoaster with its new train, one on the back seat and one on the front seat. Besides the obvious of being happy my knees are safe in the new train my verdict is that it is an improvement. The train has no extra speed over the old one on the first part of the ride but does seem to pick up more speed than the old train after the turnaround. It did seem to offer a little more airtime in the back seat but I think that may be more down to the train being a bit longer in length than the old one. Like I said it is an improvement and I think it will get better still as it runs in more.

RIDECOUNT

Nash - 7 (No queue at all!!)

HIGHLIGHTS

- The improvement to Rollercoaster with the new train.
- Little wind so PMBO was running well but a bit rough over the new track.
- Great ridecount
- Superb weather
- Infusion ride crew, such a friendly set of people who say hello to everyone. If only all staff could be like them.

LOWLIGHTS

- Nash was a little off the pace today
- Big Dipper was very bouncy and rough.
- Why was the park so quiet when the weather was like it was?

I went to Pleasure Beach last Sunday. Went with Vicci and had a very different day at the park. Was my first one on one day at the park since joining the club really and a nice relaxing and fun day. We got all the rides done in record time. Had a good laugh with that great guy who runs the Zipper Dipper. Vicci got to do all the rides she missed at the Bash as it was only her second time at the park. She claims to be a guest and not a member, yet was telling our hotel landlady to attend Oakwood and screaming her lungs off on the coasters. I believe i have a convert lol.

The main difference at the park for me was having so much left over time after the rides that we decided to attend Forbidden the show. Was my first ever show at the Beach after many years of going. Have to say i was really impressed with the show. Vicci loved the dancing and the costumes too.
After doing this show we headed back into the park and came across the South Beach Musical. So we decided to do this as well. Man, what a mistake. It`s held in that small dome that held the dark water.
The show was a complete disgrace and very disturbing.
Both me and Vicci found the whole thing very uncomfortable and were surprised this park would hold this show.
It featured 4 young girls, 3 of whom were great singers and dancers. Plus a fourth who looked like her hamster had just died and clearly was not interested in any of the show. Then there was a 45 year old man in teenager cloths. He was holding there hand and singing about love, while they were dressed as high school cheerleaders. Maybe this guy was a stand in but you could tell everybody was thinking what we were. How can the park put this on in there park, i was relieved when it ended.
The park should feel disgraced putting that on in a family park, a complete contrast to how great Forbidden was. It`s even more disturbing when customers without a wristband have to pay £3 for that.

Other than the dodgy show, i had one of my best days at Pleasure Beach in over 10 years. weather was okay, staff were being nice, rides were all running and lines were very small.

and you dont find Forbidden smutty Steve?  Laughing

Anyhow I am not really a great one to talk about the shows as I am not really interested in them tbh. But I do know from what has been on the BPB guide that there has been a few problems.

The bloke who is in the ads for the south beach musical has left and one of the dancers was told she was not required anymore even though by all accounts she was one of the best ones. As you say the bloke who is now in it is a bit on the old side to be singing songs like that!!

I think a lot of the problem has been around the show being moved in good weather to the stage next to the Nash.
