Blow of Steam

It is seven in the morning and I walk bleary eyed into the office with a fresh steaming cup of coffee and then the phone rings. Somone with the calming tone equalled to that of a paranoid, schizophrenic in the Fright Night Asylum, informs me there is a minor issue. The time is now gone four in the afternoon and the cooffe has gone cold and stale. Only my bleary eyes linger, as I finally hang up the phone. With words running through my mind that I could not post on this board I decide I need to blow of some steam.

I jump in the car and thirty minutes later I am in a monorail arriving at the station. Eyebrows rise as I walk past. I would say it was because I looked good but, maybe weird would be a more honest choice. After all how many times have you seen someone getting on Spinball Whizzer wearing a brown pin stripe suite with matching waste coat and highly polished shoes.   The ride was almost walk on and a little girl brought a smile to my face as I sat next to her, asking if I was mad or did I work there? I replied I was probably a little mad. I am not sure what they have done to this ride but, it is spinning more and more each time I get on it. Even as we hit the break run we were still doing three sixties and this caused the working day to melt away.

I then hit Oblivion with no queue. The mist and the cold October air were adding volume and style to my receeding hair line. Metal note to self, I need to get myself one of these instead of wax and a hairdryer.

Then over to Nemisis, which with the fright night lighting added a little extra to the ride. It was not flying like on the ERS but, it was running well. A glowing red light shone on the track where it twists over the station. Part of this is lit then it flies into complete darkness it seems to added to the time it takes to make that manouvre. Even with my hundreds of goes on this ride this year I still had moments in the dark of not knowing where the heck I was going and it intensified the ride.

Then  air, what can I say? For me it is ok with my favourite section when you fly round the corner looking out over the car park. But, once is enough and I spent another hour on Nemisis Very Happy

I headed over to Rita and found somehing strange. It was actualy giving bits of air time all round the track in cars that were only a tenth full! Not as good as Stealth but if they could get it to do that all the time it would be a much better ride for it.

By now I am used to the stares and giggles as a fully suited man entered the Tower of Terrors. This was my first time doing this one. Like many others you conga line through themed area with actors. I am not going to say to much on this incase some are going later but, it is a good one and I think matches the Asylum at Thorpe.

On the way out I grab a steaming hot coffee to make up for the one never drunk in the morning. I am having a second operation tomorrow and am chuffed to have got in so much ride time before being laid out again for a couple of weeks. Hope to see some of you at Drayton for the fireworks. I just hope Storm Force is on. I hear hyperphermia stops you feeling cold Very Happy

Cool report, written more like a story than an account.

Is the Tower of Terrors actually in the towers?
smiler

The terror of the towers takes the whole of the down stairs bit of the towers this year they moved the entracne to the other side of the towers.

Tower of Terrors

With it being in the actual castle, it does add something with having the stone walls and authentic surroundings for what at times is quite a freakish exoeriance.

Sounds like you had a invigorating trip and blew the tension out of your system.

In fact I feel the health benefits you get after being to a park should be available on the National Health. I am sure it would solve a lot of problems.

Only a little ??

That's the best thing being close to a park so you can get down late in the day. The queues are smaller enabling the option to be more selective and going on your favorite rides.

Robin
ps great to meet you Saturday, hope things go well and look forward to seeing you in the New Year
