Happy Helen

I have already booked into The Big Blue Hotel, but I am still waiting to hear if there is any discount for RCCGB members, as it looks modern and I know it would be comfortable, also with it being right next to the Pleasure Beach it is ideal !
Coaster Clare

The flat we are stopping in is around the corner and has parking free of charge too

The discount varies on time of year but they should offer you some form if you tell them you are an RCCGB member.

Yes I was wondering if it did depend on the time of year whether they would offer any discount. I am still waiting to hear back from the Hotel.
Coaster Police

I stopped in the Big Blue Hotel last year. It's not bad as it's a proper Hotel type place. I think i got it for 75 per room per night last year with the RCCGB discount.

There are cheaper B&B's about, but i guess it's what you prefer... one thing I would say in favour of the hotel is that the bar is open late, albeit typical hotel bar prices! But after a good night of evening entertainment, there's always that 1 extra drink available Wink
Happy Helen

Yes, I have managed to get a room for £75 per night so that is really good.
Andy Hine MBE

Hi
Bash invites should be with you all by the weekend (inside the next AIRtime).
I'm now looking for Gong Show acts so if you want to have a go, please e-mail me (andy@rccgb.co.uk) with the subject heading "Gong Show"
You can do anything - sing, juggle, dance, magic, ect., and you don't have to be good - in fact the badder you are the better!  So go on, have a go!

Andy
Coaster Police

Well done Helen getting that rate - you got a bargain there.

I have just phoned the Big Blue, and there's no RCCGB discount this year  Sad

The cheapest they could offer was 115 prpm which is way too much really, so i've used a B&B instead. I tried the one that is the "feature" on the booking forms (The Langroyd), and there's a load of people staying there, so should be good anyway  Laughing
hazzzzeeee

We have stayed there the last few years and its wonderful!!!
You won't be dispointed
adey

were staying at the langroyd hotel this year should be a a good laugh we phoned the big blue for a price and we were told there was a discount for rccgb members but it was about £250 for the 2 nights for 5 of us.
bluea61

The Langroyd is excellent. Like Hayley said we have stayed there for a few years now and they offer a great service and they know how to cook a breakfast!
looping lee

The Langroyd is the best B & B i've stayed at in Blackpool. John and Jane are excellent hosts and also coaster enthusiasts too !
Highly recommended !!!
adey

does anyone know who andy has got lined up for the friday night?  Surprised
Andy Hine MBE

It's a secret!  But it is a household name.  As a clue, he was on the same TV programme as me when the Club launched 20years ago.  Twisted Evil
adey

thanks for the clue andy i still dont have a clue. (were going to see mick miller on saturday?) Rolling Eyes
coaster-andy

It has to be Keith Harris & Orvil.
Coaster Clare

As already said we are stopping in a flat from Friday to Monday and its only £140 for the four of us so if there any families out there who need the details I will forward the web site etc.

LAst I heard he was charging £5000 a show. Don't think Nev charges us enough to cover that cost.

I think we might be going, just have to see how I feel after that Waltzer!!

I will be giving the nightclub a miss this year.

Dance night clubs dont really interest me much these days plus the Fri / sat night is the only chance to have a good chat to some friends who i dont get to see very often.

Plus i got run over by a tram last year  Shocked   Laughing

Still need one more Gong Act - and am hoping for someone who has never taken part before.  Anyone fancy a laugh?  No one has ever regretted taking part and some (Ryan) come back year after year!  Even if you don't have an act but want to take part contact me as I have loads of silly ideas!  You'll probably only be on stage for 15 seconds!

No, nightclubs don't interest me neither. I'm sure it will be a great social oppuortunity as I wouldn't get to see people very often from RCCGB.

We driving up from Bournemouth, stopping in at Southport during the afternoon. Hopefully it'll be open!

Then it's evening beer and entertainment. No clubbing for me as i'll be knackered.

Me and Mum are heading up there just after the morning rush hour, hopefully. Going to get the new Camelot tick in the form of Knightmare on the way up.
Can't wait now. Very Happy
Bunnie

Still unsure whether to do Southport or Camelot on the way up  Confused

Not long to go now
WildMouse

I'll also be visiting Camelot on the way up to the Bash.

It's a toss up between clubbing, Funny Girls (had lots of recommendations), after show drinks or a night cap on the Friday evening. Will see how I'm feeling on the night.

Not long to go folks. Can't wait to see you all again.

Might be a mini take-over going on up the Tower on the Sunday as me and Ste (Keefe) plan on heading up after the ERS also.

Well...Assuming I'm not going to default to my usual absent-minded self and forget in the morning, I should have my membership renewal and Bash form in the post later today. Just gotta hope the cheque doesn't bounce! ShockedLaughingRazz

As someone has asked: No, Nev hasn't got me down for any acts this year at all. On the other hand, I did PM him with an idea for an interesting Gong Show act that I'd like to do earlier this evening...But if Andy accepts it (And the Paradise Room give their consent to the use of certain props) then I'd probabally have a minimum act duration this year due to what I'm doing... ShockedRolling EyesWink

As for when I'll be there on the Friday: I'll probabally be around South Beach area after 16:00 or so as I'll be staying in the same B&B as I did last year if they have space available. On the other hand, it really depends how long I'll have to wait at Taunton for my connecting train! LaughingVery HappyRazz

I am coming up on the Thursday, so I will have the whole of Friday to do things, like the peirs, the Tower ect.

I have had a look at the Sandcastle website and it looks a really good pool with slides, wave machine and rapids.

I think RCCGB will be offering discounts for members at Pizza Hut, Ocean Boulevard by the the Pleasure Beach and hopefully if you ride the Spinning Mouse on the South Peir, as I know last year if you showed your membership card you recieved a free second ride.

Also there is the Sealife Centre if any of you wanted to make use of your Merlin Passes.

The zoo sounds good as I have never been to the one in Blackpool before.

Just got in from work (left early tonight!) and am just about to print the Bash programmes.  Depending how long I can stay awake, I'll fold them and stuff them with your trip badges into envelops and on the way to work tomorrow (I'm on another 10am - midnight shift!).  So hopefully you should get everything by Tues/Wed.

If you don't and you have sent your booking, please give it a couple more days then contact me.  If you haven't booked, then don't expect anything  Laughing

Well...I got my tickets somewhere between Wednesday and Thursday, I can't remember...But I've got them, and that's the main thing so far as I'm concerned! Cool
By the by...If anyone's still yet to book their accommodation, may I make a shameless plug for the hotel that I'm using; The Verdo in Osbourne Road. Cool

This is a very nice B&B situated in one of the back roads just North of the Pleasure Beach (About three mins walk to the Paradise Room) with all en-suite rooms, breakfast included, and good rates if I'm any judge. When I booked with them earlier today, they said that they were fairly quiet over the 'Bash weekend, so there should still be a few rooms available there. Being within five mins walk of Blackpool South station, it'd be a good choice for anyone coming in via public transport as well. Smile

As far as I know, room rates over the 'Bash weekend are: (E&OE)
  • £20.00 Per person/night - Single occupancy,
  • £35.00 Per person/night - Two in a double room
If ye want to check 'em out, call (01253) 343 811, or go to http://www.verdohotel.com Cool

* - Note: The Verdo is a quiet B&B mainly orientated towards families and the over 55's. Therefore, groups of younger people may not find this establishment suitable for them.
