Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Just been to BPB on 28th february 2009.  Grand National, Space Invader closed.  Roller coaster was open and popular on the day.

Revolution was superb.  Still has better first drop than Pepsi Max Big One.  Big Dipper was even more bouncy when going round the turn around bit near Steeplechase.

Going again this Sunday, if weather is ok.  Will go on Avalanche, Roller coaster and the rest this time!!

I like the new entrance, payment area in the White Tower. very smart.

£5 to park at Alton Towers, I hope that means they have reduced the entrance price.  What a rip off.  There is no way you should pay for parking at Alton Towers.  That will just put people off going.

I see your point. None of the other Merlin Parks make you pay to leave the car park. Why is it only Alton?

Supply and Demand......

Without considerable pain, Alton is not the easiest place to get to without a car!

The money raised from the car park was said to go towards the relief road which now is deffo not happening and as for the alton prices im afraid the entrance price hasnt gone down that has gone up another £2 to £36 now for an adult

The parking charge is ridiculous  Evil or Very Mad

Would i be right in saying that the £5 charge or indeed the car parking charge itself is not mentioned at all on the website? I dont ever recall seeing it on there. Therefore most people would only find out about that charge once they are there and its too late so to speak.

They should scrap the charge now that the relief road isnt going ahead . . . even after the coach accident . . . greedy Merlin . . . money money money . . .

Roller Coaster at BPB was actually running?  I thought it was SBNO this year.  So it looks like we'll be able to ride it at the Blackpool Bash this year after all?

Will you be attending the Blackpool Bash 17-19 April, even after having your own trip there in February?

hi. as the Grand National was closed, i think Roller Coaster may only be open a short time, because National was under repair.

As for the BPB bash, i won't be going. I am going to Alton Towers in October.

I was at the Pleasure Beach on Sat 7 March, and both Roller Coaster and Gold Mine were running.  Grand National and River Caves are both still having work done and were not running.

Note that neither Roller coaster nor Gold Mine are listed on the rides on http://www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com/

On another forum I saw this posted:-

i phoned the pleasure beach today to find out when the grand national was going to re open and a very nice lady informed me that it will be reopening on april 4 the real actuall grand national day!!!!

Such information is never entirely reliable, but since this is the week before Easter I would expect Pleasure Beach to be doing all they can to achieve that date.  It seems unlikely that Roller Coaster will continue to be operated once Grand National is operational.

My personal outlook is that I will not expect Roller Coaster to be running at the Bash, and that it will be a bonus if it is.   (Although it will be bitter sweet if that is because Grand National is still not available)
