Barry Island Pleasure Park to close?ONE of South Wales’ most famous pleasure parks is set to close down – and the rain is to blame.
The owner of the Barry Island Pleasure Park said yesterday the famous venue would close in its current form at the end of the summer season.
The Pleasure Park, which boasts traditional rides like the log flume, a big dipper and a ghost train, has been hit hard by bad weather for three successive summers.
And this July’s washout is the last straw for owner Ian Rogers.
Now, Mr Rogers says he will sell off the rides at the end of the season and press ahead with plans to turn it into an all-year-round undercover tourism complex.

Having looked at Bary Island's own website, it does seem that the sell off has already begun and other rides are now SBNO

They should melt it down and turn it into WD40 cans!!
The rides at the park were not a lot to shout about last time we were there. Shame as we have some old pics which showed how good it used to be.

I think the park has seemed better days especially when I saw it on the news as I first went there when I was 6 years old and it has certainly gone downhill.
