Another One Bites the DustWell another park is set to close in the US as a result of the current financial climate. Celebration City in Branson is to close down today. The park is owned by Hershend Family Entertainment who also operate Silver Dollar City a couple of miles from Celebration City. It's unclear what will happen to rides like the wooden coaster Wildcat.
Celebration City only opened in 2003. Hershend are looking at alternative uses for the site such as shopping and dining or an aquarium. That part of Branson is not too dissimilar to International Drive in Florida so either of these options could serve well.
2008 has been a bad year with several new parks failing in the US. It's still unclear if Hard Rock Park will ever reopen.

That's a shame, Wildcat was a pretty good coaster. The Jack Rabbit steel coaster was pretty mad, if only for the fact that part of it looked totally unsupported!

That is a real shame. I was there this year, and really enjoyed the Ozark Wildcat...and I agree about the Jack Rabbit, a really crazy ride that just makes you laugh all the way round.
Hope something positive can happen to the woodie, as it is a fun and enjoyable coaster.
David.

It would be good if the move the rides to Silver Dollar City as that was a very good park and the extra rides would improve it.

I was thinking that too, but I doubt SDC could fit in Ozark Wildcat. The terrain there was just too hilly, if I recall correctly.
