Dan, there's a picture of the ride he fell from in this article
http://www.whtimes.co.uk/content/...20Aug%202009%2014%3A59%3A23%3A587
The follow up article at the linked at the bottom of that page suggests he was thrown from the ride and into a row of portable toilets

Hmmm, think I will be giving up the funfair rides then. I think accidents are on the increase.
Hope the victim pulls through though

Given the huge number of people that visit fairs around the world. Potentially more than visit theme parks. I think the accident rate is superb. I can't remember hearing about a death at a fun fair, but I can think of a few at theme parks. I personally feel safer at a lot of fairs than at some parks.
When you watch the operations on rides like Hollenblitz, Olympia Looping, Alpina Bahn, Spinning Racer it's interesting how quick and efficient they are and how little faffing is involved compared to similar rides in parks. Yet there's never been any serious accidents on these travelling rides. Food for thought.

The festival you were talking about where the 14 year old kid fell out of the ride was at Knebworth House near Stevenage which is about 45 minutes from where i live. I hope the young man pulls through ok. Havent been on a fair ground ride (on a travelling fair) for a few years. I just go on rides at theme parks nowadays.

Hope he's doing ok now.
