Alton Towers Scarefest 25/10/07I went to Alton’s Scarefest yesterday. Here’s my take on the attractions:
Terror of the Towers had a good storyline, top notch acting and amazing sets/special effects. The final set piece had a fair few of our group running out of the door in terror!
Whilst the experience wasn’t particularly scary, it was a lot much fun and a good laugh.
The Field of 1000 Screams had some good set pieces, but lacked scares in between. Groups were too big, but I can see why they did this as throughput was dire.
Room 13 was stunning. I found myself leading our group (a regular occurrence for some reason), which I thoroughly regretted after watching the introduction video showing the ‘characters’ we’d be encountering inside the hellish realm within Room 13!
The ‘maze’ itself was a relentless tour de force of both terror and laughs with a good plot and excellent acting talent who really knew how to terrify us.
Fright Lights was ‘ok’ and provided a welcome diversion.
Haunted Hollow after dark was alright. Though I think it could have done with a couple more actors.
So overall, a pretty darn good event with room for improvements. The lack of Halloween theming being one of them.
