Alton Towers New RollercoasterAfter talking to Steve he told me to look on theme park review about Alton Towers new rollercoaster.
I found this! http://publicaccess.staffsmoorlan...ad/PublicAccess/08-02030-FUL-1%20(14442).pdf
Its a PDF document so could take a while to load, but it has some artwork of buildings and an entrance which is very interesting!
Having read a little bit in the document, it states that the theming is designed to complement existing attractions with the resort, so a retheme of ug land may not be on the cards?

If you go directly to the planning application page And click on Associated Documents tab you can view that document plus additional layout plans, station artwork and various impact studies. I briefly flipped through it all yesterday and it also talks about work to be carried out in Mutiny Bay on what could be a new indoor ride.[/url]

I have looked at the plans for this new coaster and there seems to be a mistake, as the new coaster is located exactly where the corkscrew is . . . . . . . dont worry, i will be emailing AT later to tell them of this error . . . .

More info has just been released on SW6 and can be found here : http://www.towersalmanac.com/index.php?show_story=363
Personnally i think it looks cool and it should have plenty of airtime. From the concept drawings it looks like a Gerstlauer or Mack coaster !
Will be interesting to see the new trains, are they going to be special or different !!!

It never is good for Alton with regards new installations. There is always a complaint from someone. Don't the locals care about the tourist trade in their area?

I wonder if any of the people who are opposed own a local business? It will have the longer term effect on them.

Ground work on the new 2010 Rollercoaster to replace Corkscrew could face delays after claims the ride will cover a historical site. It is believed that an Iron Age Hill Fort is to be built over when the rollercoaster is errected. An archaeologist from Staffordshire County Council is due to visit the site in the next week.
A local resident brought this to the attention of the Council, whi are now going to investigate if the new ride is to be built over the Fort. Alton Towers have said that they did include the Iron Age Hill Fort on ther plans, and that the site is nowhere near the area marked out for the Corkscrew's replacement.
The local resident from Alton has researched the local area, and claims that Alton Towers did not realise the Hill Fort extended so far. Alton Towers say that the Hill Fort in question is one close to the Trade and Staff entrance, and not close to the 2010 area.

Best call Tony Robinson in then.
I knew there was a Hill Fort in the area of the park but was'nt sure where it was. I read about it in a book somewhere.

I thought the fort was one of the issues with the Woodie, but it was down in the valley somewhere. How many forts are there round there.

OK, then they should use this old Fort thing to their benefit... re-build it, use it as additional themeing, and build something like the Troy (Toverland, Netherlands) Woodie which is an awsome coaster so it all fits and is themed well together
We can get the trojan horse attaching the Fort then. Simple & Classic

Can you imagine a night out with the residents of Alton........They must enormous fun to be with....laughing,joking, enjoying life and plotting to spoil the countrie's fun by objecting to everything Alton Towers plans. .......I wonder how many of the local residents bought their houses after AT started having rides built.....what did they expect???????

That's good news. I'd be happy to live next to Alton Towers if any of the Alton village NIMBYs want to swap houses!

Brilliant! - Well done all involved in getting it through!
EDIT:
It can only help to provide essential job security and guest cash into both the local and national economy.
