Alton Towers - 8/11/07Back home after a wet and windy day at Alton Towers but above all the best day in years at the place for ride intensity
We arrived on park just before 12pm and went straight to Spinball to start the day off. We basically did one rotation around the park doing block riding to get a great ride count.
The park was really quiet today other than a few large groups of people who made the ride queues go up a little when they had there ride. But the longest wait was 5 mins for spinball wizzer which was maily due to them only running it with 2 or 3 people only in the cars. Other than that the only other queue was 3 times for rita at 2 mins each time. Even Air had no queue at all when we went to it
The 3rd ride on Oblivion today will go down in legend, I went on in a torrential downpour, my wife had the sense not too but me being a ride counter just could not stand around waiting for it to stop raining
So here is the amazing ride count
Spinball Wizzer - 4 (Spin baby spin, the best ever today )
Oblivion - 8 (wetter than valhalla, see the above paragraph )
Enterprise - 1
Submission - 1
Corkscrew - 2
Rita - 9
RMT - 2
Air - 2 (in the rain this ride is sooooo much better)
Nemesis - 14
Total ride count - 43
Highpoints
- A fantastic ride count
- No queues
- Nemesis in the dark, just amazing
- Spinball wizzer spinning like mad, even on lifthill
- Air, a bit of rain on the tracks makes it run so much better
- Most of the staff today were really chatty and superb
Lowpoints
- None really, not even the rain could spoil our fun
Tip
- When they say the last monorail back is 6.30pm they really mean it, we only just made it after doing nemesis last, others were not so lucky. You have been warned!!!
So all in all a fantastic day and well worth taking the a days holiday for. Bring on Sunday, which from what I was told should be as quiet as today, although they do expect friday and saturday to be a medium busy day
