Alton Towers - 30th September

PARK HOURS 9-5

WHO WENT

Me
My Mum

Only one word can describe today at Alton Towers, stunning!!

It is possibly the best day I have had at Alton since the days of Thunder Looper. I would even say other than Cedar Point in June today was the best day out at a park this year. The only down side was some really rotten weather at various points during the day, but that did not put us off riding one little bit.

The park was pretty quiet due to the horrible weather but to my surprise the rides were running at full capacity. The longest wait we had was for 15 mins for Air. Other than a couple of 5 min waits for Nemesis and Rita the majority of rides were walk ons!!

RIDE COUNT

Spinball Wizzer - 15
Oblivion - 6
Rita - 6
Corkscrew - 1
Hex - 1
The Flume - 2
Rapids - 1
Duel - 1
Air - 1
Nemesis - 25!!

TOTAL RIDES = A mind boggling 59!!!!

HIGHLIGHTS

- The staff were out of this world, all were friendly and doing a really great job.
- All the major rides on full capacity even though the park was quiet, the operation was superb as well. The ride ops really went flat out to get a quick dispatch.
- Nemesis, what can be said other than truly awesome.
- Totally insane ride count, you have no right to get so many rides at Alton Towers.
- Oblivion in torrential rain, other than the fact I imagine we will be ill after getting a real soaking, what amazing fun it was. Announcements were made to warn guests that due to conditions the ride may be uncomfortable and to stand aside and let other through if you did not want to ride, well everyone did ride and what fun it was!! Never mind "dont look down" it should have been "dont open your eyes" lol

LOWLIGHTS

- Even the weather could not spoil the day.

So in the 4 visits I have made to Alton this month I have managed a stunning 203 rides!! The previous 3 were great days out, but today was a day to go in legend, it really was that amazing.

Well done getting so many rides at Alton Towers.  Queuing times of five minutes or less must surely be a rarity there.  If only queue times had been that short at the Loopathon in 2005 and 2006, I remember queueing about three quarters of an hour in the normal queue for Spinball Whizzer at the 2005 Loopathon Alton Towers.  It was busy at Alton Towers for the Loopathon on Saturday 8 October 2005, despite it raining much of that day, so you did well to have it quiet at Alton Towers on Tuesday this week.  Could the fact that it was a term time weekday (i.e. school day) also have played a part in it being quiet.?

Did you really clock up 25 goes on Nemesis?  Were they 25 goes scattered through the day, or 25 goes straight off?  Nemesis has vertical loops, so as much as I like it (that's where I got my nickname from) I think 25 goes straight off on Nemesis would be too much for me.  The last time I rode Nemesis at Alton Towers was during the ERS at Loopathon Alton Towers 2006, during which I had six goes on Nemesis.

What inspired you to go to Alton Towers on 30 September?  I was also at a park that day, Devon's Crealy.  It was my 37th birthday that day, hence why I went there for my birthday outing (it was also the final day of a five day holiday in Devon).
