Adventure Wonderland and Paultons

Spent some time at Paultons today with their marketing director and he told me that Adventure Wonderland park in Christchurch have put in planning permission to build a rapids ride, possibly of the ABC Rides style for 2009.

I get the impression this is a bit of a blow for Paultons and may have messed up some of their plans. However I was told of some very exciting plans for Paultons over the next few years. Expect a quiet 2009 but 2010 will be worth waiting for.

Paultons have just had another pair of Meerkats born. A few weeks ago they had Ant and Dec and now they've got another two meerkat babies. As yet they've not decided on names but Katie and Peter are the favourite choice. I suggested Nancy and Oliver. Anyone else got a good idea I could suggest on your behalf? There's no guarantee they'll use it by I can pass them on.

Have stumbled upon a planning application granted last year for a junior raft ride to be built at Adventure Wonderland. It is in fact a log flume and not a rapids ride, so I'm thinking this might be what Paultons suspect is the rapids.

Any how here is a link to the planning application.

Both these parks are aimed more at families with younger children and a ride like the rapids might be a bit scary for them., whereas log flumes can vary in size, a smaller one would be ideal.

Andy said the summer bash might be at Paultons which would be nice for the younger children who are not normally tall enough to go on the bigger rides, which they could do with more of.

Hopefully they will come up with something for 2010.

I enjoyed my trip to Paultons. A lovely park and one I think needs a small Wooden Coaster there is space out behind Cobra. I am going to go in September and Take Thomas back and maybe tak in Hayling Island as well.
I think this park has potential to grow well.

Reading through all the documentation for Adventure Wonderland there is a development plan which mentions they want to add rides that will appeal to all the family but not mega thrill rides. So something like a Fabbri or ABC Rides rapids would be perfect.

As for Paultons getting a woodie, don't hold you breath, the big boss really isn't sold on the idea despite my constant harrassment and justification.

You are to Paultons, what Andy is to Alton!

If Paultons have any sense they would pop over to Texas.............Ride the "RATTL~R" and then have one installed at their park Very Happy

Hehe. Nice try Ryan. Something like Antelope at Gullivers Warrington would be a good option, as it's a family park, after all.
There must be someway to plead with the boss to get some wood in the park. The only thing would be noise issues, plus it might put the golfers off their shots on the course behind the park  Laughing  Laughing

The dinosaurs keep upsetting the golfers, the roaring is putting them off their shots.

Paultons recently asked guests to email suggestions of what they'd like to see next in the park. Apparently they had an over whelming number of requests for wooden coasters, sadly they believe there was a campaign by enthusiasts to influence their ride choice. So it seems they're really not interested in wood, I got the "You sound like a broken record" comment whilst filming on Saturday.

Even without wood we should be pleased with their expansion plans over the next fews years, as I say 09 will be quiet and then from 2010 on the park plans to build on the success of Cobra and aim to become more of a rival for CWOA and Legoland.

I am eagerly awaiting 2010 then. Laughing I love Paultons, I've been going there since I was little toddler. It's been great to see it expand so well.

It's my local park, and anything new will be great. I'm glad to see this park expanding.

Its quite exciting that they want to try and compete with Chessy and Legoland. These are both major players that have big investments. Exciting times ahead for Paultons then.

I think that is a huge undertaking.I visited Chessington the other week. I can say that all though they have no major ride going in as yet this place has become amazing place. There Zoo/ Safari Park is growing it to something great. I hope that the Sealife Center stays as it is a lovely addition to the park. The Childrens Corner of the animals is fun.

I was back at the Paultons this morning, along with a representative of Huss Park Attractions, but not for the same meeting. I wonder what Huss have to offer that Paultons might be interested in, I honestly don't know. How about a King Kong ride like the one at Bobbejaanland http://www.hussrides.com/index.ph...ask=view&id=86&Itemid=137
Or maybe a Topple Tower to replace the unreliable Jumping Bean from Moser http://www.hussrides.com/index.ph...ask=view&id=94&Itemid=147

In any case had fun filming at the park with baby meerkats chasing after my furry mic cover.

I think Paultons could do with a Huss Frisbee as it is my favourite ride and a suspended or inverted coaster.

Might be a bit extreme for their target audience. They specifically don't want to attract the teenage market to the park.
