We took our first trip to Thorpe for a while and it was quite an eventful day. The ever reliable Nemesis was shut for most of the morning with either train or transfer track problems, about 3 or 4 rides opened with the park, and it was extremely busy.

The most interesting point was Stealth. As we drove in they were testing Stealth, by the time we had parked we noticed that it had stalled! I was very suprised it had happened but absolutely gob smacked that it had stalled on the top hat! The chances of that happening must be a million to one, and its the first time its happened to Stealth. The train was so perfectly central over the top hat and it must have had so many things just go right for it to happen!

Around lunch we noticed them lifting a crane that must have stretched over 250ft and lowered three guys onto the platform. After a bit of inspection they gave it a shove and it rolled back into the station. A stall and a roll back in one day!!

What a day full of drama! Stealth having major issues, I was very impressed that they were able to hire the crane that was able to get to that height on a Sunday!!!!
They turned this problem around really quickly despite them saying they don't know if it will open for the day.
When Nemesis opened the queue went into the jungle and normally when its like that, loading and dispatching the trains can be a bit dodgey, but they were flying on this today!

The lost city was a bonus when Stealth and Nemesis opened, no one queued for Colossus even though there was a two hour queue in the morning! In the space of 10 minutes we got 3 rides on it!
Rush was also a walk on! I have never seen that!!!

Overall a good day despite all of the problems they had in the morning! I am sure its a day Thorpe Park staff won't forget in a hurry!

Reminds me of my ride on Stealth, where we nearly stopped at the top, but just crawled over at about 2 MPH. Sounds like you guys had an average day at Thorpe  Laughing  Razz
Good to hear about Colossus and Rush being no Queue'ers though. I have seen Rush like that sometimes, but only just after the park opening  Very Happy

Throught that the guys can use the cables to get up and down on that run in the middle if the top hat. The crane must be on site at all times for them to do stuff at the top etc (base jumpin  Laughing ). Wow loved to of seen that tho.

Shocked  Blimey  Shocked  I would not wanna be going up in that little basket attached to that crane on a windy day!! Brave people huh??

I thought those cables that hang from the top hat were what they would use in these scenarios's? I guess the crane looks more exciting tho  Very Happy

We did think that. I guess with the train at the top it presents all new problems. I guess the rope may be used to climb the track which is obviously impossible. If the train moved when you were half way up you may get a bit of a headache.

Surely if it was too windy they would not have to use the crane??  surely the wind would be strong enough to blow it over the edge, lol.

I would guess it would need to be a really strong gust to shift the weight of the train.
