Welcome to the Forum Sea Lion, hope you enjoy it here!

My favorite Book is an old Annual i got from Alton Towers back in the days when it was magical, and Henry the Hound the Parks Maot was in full force! It is a story book incorporating the rides in the park at the time, true piece of history!

Hi all

Are there many interesting books about Alton Towers? I have never really rated the place highly. Nemesis is a great ride, but it is in the wrong park!

The one I am reading (again!!) at the moment - Rollercoaster by Dave Bennett is an excellent book.

I agree with you sealion about Nemesis, great white knuckle ride, just a shame its in a park full of lame rides.

Hi Sea Lion, and welcome to the board.

I don't have a favourite book but just thought I'd say hi.

Hi All (and to my fellow Boltonians)

Thank you for the kind words and welcome.

Merchandise-wise: I have the coaster video called White Knuckle. I watched it the other night - most entertaining.

Just looking at RCDB at all the lovely 2008 coasters. And what is the UK getting? Troublesome Trucks at Drayton. I can see the rest of the world being really jealous of us! There's probably more 2008 coaster openings in Timbuktoo than in the UK!

My favourite coaster book is "Memories of Southend Kursaal" by Ken Crowe because the Kursaal was my very first theme park, and the Cyclone my first ever roller coaster. I lived 6 miles from Southend, and my Dad used to take me there regularly from age 8. I have very fond memories of that place, and am sorry it's just a gaming centre and bowling alley now.

Hello to you too Sealion, nice to see another coaster crazy fan in Bolton.

Hopefull we will get something else in the UK, flamingoland may be adding a few rides from what I hear but at the moment it looks pretty poor tbh

What two books are they? Anything interesting? There doesn't seem to be any really up to date coaster books at the moment.

Here's a farily new coaster book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ripleys-B...ks&qid=1193490944&sr=8-20

Various RCCGB members supplied suggestions for it, no idea whose if any made it to the final print.

Yeah! But it's not really a coaster book is it? I would like large glossy photos of the latest coasters, and comprehensive discussion on the most cutting-edge innovations. Maybe 2008 will see such a book come to light. Oh, and an updated version of the White Knuckle VHS would be a welcome addition too.

The best book in my opinion.
Is one called White Knuckle Ride by Mark Wyatt it is about 10 years old now, but iit s a coffee table book with great pictures of rides in it. My ambition when I joined the club was to ride all the coasters in it.
I have now after 11 years with the club acheived that.

GREAT coasternutter, I hope you had fun achieving your goal.

Hey, what's everyones favourite coaster programme of the past? Remember that QED programme featuring (1st Gen) Freefall towers? I don't remember much more about it other than being amazed at all the USA rides including a swing coaster...

I thinkthe best series of TV programmes are the Extreme Rides ones. They are also getting on a bit but they are good to watch. Also the top ten coasters is funny just to see Ryan and Andy in the video!

Hi all.

Anyone watch SUPERCOASTERS on the National Geographic Channel? I would love to ride THAT 1000ft tall coaster... shame it was only a simulation of what we might see in coming years.
