Definitely intriguing, but as one of the users says on that board the poem is a direct rip of an historial poem.

Me and Hayley were discussing the ride on Monday and we were saying it would be good themed along Robin Hood or Knights of the Round Table.

Yes it's quite easy these days for someone to create a convincing movie. But I do like the theme of this actually...

Some interesting plans here:

http://www.ukrides.info/atsw6.htm

and here:

http://2010.towersnerd.com/plans.php

I like the talks about the ride possibly being linked in some way with Hex.

Are there any reverse launch coasters in the world? Cos that would be pretty cool and would link in with Rita.

The same pack as posted on TT, makes for a very interesting read  Very Happy

Here's the direct link to the video reportedly revealing information about SW6. Apparently another video will be released in less than 48 hours.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS1C6U4Wf7w

And here's a poem that goes with the video
A trumpet blast, a charge into the light
From Alton Towers the hunt took flight
The Earl was confused and puzzled to why
His favorite hound was nowhere to his eye.

Upon the hunting parties return
The Earl's young child raised concern
For nowhere was he to be seen
Then suddenly an unearthly scream.

Her clothes covered in crimson smears
Her eyes alight, filled with fear
The maid cried the hound had killed the boy
With blood on it's fangs and eyes full of joy.

The frantic Earl, blinded by grief
Withdrew his blade from it's sheath
An almighty plunge of this hunting knife
Took the hound bereft of life.

The dog's dying cry awoke his son
Peacefully concealed in another room
But nearby, a slain wolf was found
The true attacker lay on the ground.

The Earl realised his dreadful error
His heart began to fill with terror
His child had been saved by the hound
Which lay displaying the fatal wound.

The poor dog's bones were laid to rest
North of the Towers in sacred ground blessed
From that day forth the Earl never smiled
His haunting mistake turning him wild.

His heart ripped and removed
The Earl's sorrow forever proved.

In a unmarked grave in Alton Towers
Lies a simple bed of flowers
In 2009 it's grave was disturbed
The Alton hound's accidental rebirth.

If this is genuine I'm liking the sound of the back story for the ride. Will be good if they've made an effort rather than just plonk another misthemed ride in an area cough Rita cough.

I'm slightly sceptical of the video though. My 2 reasons for doubting it are, if it was professionally made I'd expect it to be 16X9 rather than 4X3 aspect ratio. Secondly the B Roll footage of Rita looks lower quality, as if it's been recorded off TV or the internet. But saying all that it is well put together and shows some real effort on some ones part. Would a fan boy go to this much effort?

Probably, if its a fanboy who is studing media or something at college? The youtube profile says its a 19 year old, if its true info.

Look at the enthusiast websites that we have available - very professional looking, using the very latest in web technology, and these are just fan boys when it boils down to it, so the ability to produce a professional outcome is definately there.

The main thing that swings it for me is its timing - its very eary being a whole year before the ride opens, and I don't think Merlin would start advertising it already when its aimed soley at enthusiasts.

I do think its a very good production and I like the theme of it, and the poems significance.

That poem seems to be telling the story of Beddgelert from North Wales.

There's some inconsistency with the different videos too. In the Blair Witch style ones they show a hooded figure, hinting he is connected with the ride theme. But this other one suggests it's themed to a ghostly hound woken from the dead.

I've decided to call shenanigans on these. I'm guessing these could be end of year projects for media or marketing students.

It's confirmed the Maude de Neville video is a fake created by a fan boy. It all got crazy when he claimed the ride would be a 2 across B&M, never gonna happen.

So the speculation continues.

Well details are out for the new coaster. So from Alton Tower Almanac

http://www.towersalmanac.com/index.php?show_story=374

I think it may turn out to be a good ride myself but time will tell on how everything will fit in with current area. That will just be Rita then as this are has nothing else left in there I still think they should slap in a Rush copy myself .

Hmmmm. I can't see the backward launch section being very comfortable. I'm not taking anything with a pinch of salt until construction begins.

I'm suprised they might be going for a launch coaster next to another one. I guess it will be part way round as I'm sure the plans showed a lift hill. Kinda like Everest. Will be interesting to see what happens

With a backwards launch, wouldn't your head get flung forwards? Personally I think it'll be a tilting track, not a launch.

I'm guessing it's going to be something along the lines of the Jet Ski and Motorbike coasters Intamin have built in Australia with the Worlds first element being the theming of the trains.

I don't think it'll be the broomstick themed coaster that was looked into for Gloomy Wood but something else. If the train style is the Worlds first then it can't be horses due to Pony Express. I do like the idea of a horse theme though. So what other train styles could we have? Ghosts? Werewolf? Hounds? Eagles?

It makes sense that Intamin supply the new coaster as they could do a deal on new trains for Rita too. That's if the rumours of Rita being rebranded are true.

Hmmm...Black track would suggest bits that run close to or over tree height. Mind ye, I havn't been following the SW6 gossip that much though, so the whole ride could be like that for all I know. Smile

Incidentally; Does anyone else think that the above track looks very much like the usual type for a Wild Mouse type ride?

Excellent photos by the by, Dan! Twisted Evil

No, it does not look like the usual type of track for a wild mouse coaster, thought it would be more along the lines of Rita.

Really looking forward to this! It may only be a family ride, but hey, I tend to enjoy most coasters big or small.

I'm interested to know what the trains will look like. Hopefully no over-the-shoulder restraints!! Laughing Perhaps there could be single cars even?

If i'm looking at the pic correctly, I think the rumoured 'tilt track' is going to be more of a moving platform, where the whole section of tracks drops down, not just tilts. Look at the pics of the top the 2nd lift, and the track leaving the station underneath. One above the other, lined up. Maybe the train will roll off the top of lift 2, into the building (castle, we assume) and then the whole length of track drop down and link up with the lower section. Maybe a mild reverse launch out into the helix? Might just be clutching at straws, but you never know.

That might be the section were the train finishes after going backwards, it will then roll out forwards and into the station...

Hail all! Twisted Evil
Currently having another Internet/forums haitus, which is why I've been a bit quiet of late. Smile

Anyhow...It looks like AT released an SW6 teaser video earlier this morning, and - Though it doesn't really reveal that much - I thought it might still be worth posting about.

Because AT's SW6 website isn't coded that well and is useless on smaller screens, I've copied the video over to YouTube to provide a more accessible mirror - It can be viewed Here if anyone's interested. Cool

Farewell for now, and enjoy! Twisted Evil

I think they are going to put a big swinging axe blade type thing, and then have some TV aerials which shoot air at you, and....wait that sounds familiar.

I hope whatever it is, it lives upto its hype. It doesn't have to be big or scary, just impressive enough that every time you come off you go wow that was good.

They really should do something interesting with the carts on SW6, cos that track looks boring as hell in my opinion :/

Does anyone know whats going to be 'world first' about it?

Are there any reverse launch coasters in the world? Cos that would be pretty cool and would link in with Rita.

I've really grown to love launch coasters (not literally!) or those with fast lift hills such as El' Toro. Even if space is limited then parks could do far worse than add a nice launch coaster such as Tornado in Bakken (a fast paced spinning coaster with a wicked start and wild ride).

Alton Towers has hired Simon Cowell's former bodyguard to help them protect a new secret ride they are working on.

Alton Towers will pay Tony Adkins the equivalent of a six-figure salary to protect the new ride - codenamed SW6.

Bosses say fans are so desperate to find out more about the £15 million roller-coaster - which is said to have a never-before-seen feature - they needed the extra security.

And Tony seems to have all the right credentials, he has spent seven years as a professional bodyguard also working for Princess Anne, Iron Maiden and Boy George.

He will now direct and provide advice to the in-house security team -- alternatively they could just put pictures of his face around the fence.
A spokesperson for Alton Towers Resort said: "There is a die-hard fan base out there dedicated to the discovery of information about the new ride and the Resort is desperately trying to keep it under wraps.

"We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Tony, whose previous experience of working in a celebrity environment will stand him in good stead to deal with our superfans."

Tony added: “I have looked after celebrities and even a member of the Royal Family, but this has to be one of my most interesting assignments yet. I’ve heard a lot of things and I’m hoping that the fans aren’t as scary as Simon Cowell!"

SW6 is scheduled for launch in March 2010.
