Woohoo  Very Happy  I was meant to be working that Saturday but swapped it with someone.

If anyone is up for camping I know of quite a nice site not too far away from Flamingoland which is great for the family  Very Happy

We'll be camping - I'm on annual leave for two weeks and we had planned to do some camping that week anyway - probably going to do LWV too that week.

Oh noes, that will be tough to get to as we have a concert in central London the night before. Will have to look at logistics.

http://www.caravancamping.co.uk/o...kshire_lincolnshire/Blue_Dolphin/

Me and Andy stayed on this site a couple of years ago when we last went to Flamingoland and the facilities were faultless  Smile

The last time we went was in kids summer holidays and I think it was £12 a night

EDITED: Have just done a search on the dates and it is more expensive than expected, showing £42 for a basic grass pitch for 2 nights

Like Dan said this one is great its less then 20 seconds walk right to the front gate to the park you can even see some of the ride from it. The guy who runs it knows us lot by now he normaly does £10 a night or something. Great news Andy will be booking this one now.

I've booked the Premier Inn in York.... it's equidistant between Flamingo and Lightwater Valley (my sunday option).... and also handy for a trip to Bridlington friday evening.

Hail all! Twisted Evil
I'm certainly up for doing this, assuming I can find usable accommodation and can afford the train up there after the All Line Rover bash that'll be coming in the next couple of weeks! ShockedCool

Having never done any of the parks in the North East, I'd also be up for an after trip to LWV if others are going. As I'll be coming up by train as always, might anyone be able to offer me a lift from Flamingoland to LWV, and back to York afterwards? Smile

I don't know which concert ye are referring to and what time it's expected to end, Nimmy...But assuming ye are happy with going by rail from London, I've just had a peek at the National Rail Timetable 2009CE, and here's a few services that ye might be able to use to get there - And get a few hours peaceful rest in the process: Cool
Code:
Option 0:
Service/Journey:           CRS route:  Depart:  Arrive:  Operator:
London Kings Cross - York  KGX-YRK     22:00    00:41    Nat Ex East Coast.
  York - Malton              YRK-MLT     06:38    07:02    First Transpennine.
Notes: This journey begins on FRIDAY night, and runs on into Saturday morning.
This journey involves a 5:57m overnight wait at York.
The station may be closed at night, and waiting there may not be possible.
Day single and return tickets might NOT be valid for this journey - Please
purchase Off Peak or Open tickets valid for a break of journey at York.

Option 1:
Service/Journey:           CRS route:  Depart:  Arrive:  Operator:
London Kings Cross - York  KGX-YRK     06:15    08:31    Nat Ex East Coast.

York - Malton (Next svc.)  YRK-MLT     11:38    12:02    First Transpennine.

Tips:
Weekend trains can be busy, and making seat reservations is highly advisable.

You can check departures info and platform numbers for York online during the
journey - Using a laptop, mobile phone or similar device - Via the following URL:
  http://www.livedepartureboards.co.uk/ldb/sumdep.aspx?T=YRK

To reduce your connection time at York, please ask the Guard on your train from
London - At least 45 minutes before arrival at York - To call ahead to York and
find out which platform the Malton train will be departing from.

Nev: Do ye have the prices for attendees and wristbands (If appropriate) yet? Smile

Farewell, and hopefully I'll be making this years Summer Bash along with the rest of ye! Twisted Evil

It's the Ashfield. Located behind a pub, which is always a good thing. Will be nice to be woken up by Corkscrew's lift again.

Hi Andy

Any prices for children?  Does it depend on height too?

Cheers

Sadly, Flamingo Land have a ONE price policy.  Anyone over 4 years old is normal price (even on there normal general public prices).  So it's £18 over person for everyone over 4 years old!  Under 4's go free.

I know quite a few people are wanting to do Lightwater Valley on the Sunday so...

I know a really nice campsite which is only 1 or 2 miles from Lightwater Valley. I guess it just depends if people can be arsed setting up tents after a day in Flamingo Land. For more info on the site, look here:
http://www.sleningfordwatermill.co.uk

I have booked my accomodation...

There are 2 rooms left in anyones interested.... 1 double and 1 four poster room left. Price £60 per room per night, for the friday/saturday 3/4 July.

Here's the website... http://www.sidingshotelyork.co.uk/index.html

Kind of unique if you check it out... i have stayed there many times in the past when there used to be real trains about (Death would know what i'm on about), however, the restaurant is excellent, the bar is generally open late to residents and it's a fiver cheaper than the Premier Inn, so i thought i'd stay there again! As before, it's only a short drive to Flamingoland and Lightwater Valley..... so if you're interested in something more quirky and out of the ordinary, there's 2 rooms left! (And a 4 poster room for any romantic couples)

Hooray - a trip that I don't need accommodation for Smile

And I'm definitley up for the LWV add on (it's my nearest park - yay)

Ony one question though - I have a season pass for Flamingoland this year, is there a reduced price to take account of this?

What time will we have to be at Flamingo Land for the start?  Will an early ERS mean having to be there at 9am, like the Summer Bash 2006 at Paultons?

For anyone who's arriving early for the Summer Bash, i'd like suggest visiting the Steam railway in Pickering. www.nymr.co.uk. This is one of the best preserved railways in the UK and currently runs all the way to Whitby ! It was recently featured on Dangerous adventures for boys on Channel 5 !

Also there's Eden camp.  www.edencamp.co.uk. A sort of War time Museum / theme park with some great displays from the second world war !

Both attractions are a within a few minutes drive from Flamingoland !  Cool

I was at Flamingoland today.  I'll post a trip report and my photos later.

But here's what happens when one is in the wrong place at the wrong time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqh03FyCprg

That was a nicely filmed and edited piece, a few video journalists could learn a lot from that. Just needs a better mic for interviews. Fingers crossed all goes to plan for the 3rd July opening.

The date for this years Summer Bash (Flamingo Land) is now 100% confirmed as Saturday 4th July.

Full details comining soon, but the trip will include an ERS on Mumbo Jumbo  Very Happy

Thanks Nev for confirming this year's Summer Bash date and venue.

I'm currently thinking about whether or not I want to have a holiday in Yorkshire, possibly staying in York at the time.  One idea I'm toying with is to stay for four nights around that time, and also perhaps have a weekend in Devon early June and four night break in Cornwall late September to (deliberately) span my birthday.

You said recently there may possibly also be a family funday on the south coast later in the summer.  Is there going to be one or not?  If there is to be one, where will it be, and what date.  You see, if there's going to be one early September, to Paultons or Funland Hayling Island, I may well give the Summer Bash a miss altogether and have my proposed Cornwall trip June or July, and Devon weekend September.  I'd be grateful to know as soon as possible so I can make up my mind, because whatever I want to do, I ought to start planning for June and July now (accommodation, advance train fares etc).

Well folks, I'm travelling to York on Thursday 2 July and back home the evening of Monday 6 July.  I've booked advance train tickets, and 4 nights B&B Thursday 2 July to Sunday 5 July in York.

All I've yet to do is send off the Summer Bash booking form, that I'll do tomorrow.  Then on Saturday 4 July, I'll be there at Flamingo Land for the Summer Bash.  Hopefully it will be as sunny as it was at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach for last year's Summer Bash.

It's unlikely I'll go to Lightwater Valley on the Sunday though, as I've found out it's very long winded to get from York to Lightwater Valley on public transport.  It would be nearly midday when I'd be able to get there.

Tip for those intending to camp for the summer bash - there is more than one campsite called "Ashfield".  If you are thinking of staying at the one opposite Flamingoland, make sure that the address is Kirby Misperton.  The one in York is very nice but not within walking distance.

As Ashfields Campsite (opposite Flamingo Land not the one in York) is now fully booked I've booked a room in the Ham and Cheese Hotel in Malton.

Hi Everyone

Don't forget to send your Summer Bash bookings in by this weekend.

And as a special bonus, I have arranged special discounted entry into Lighwater Valley on Sunday 5th for just £11.95 (thats a saving on £7 on their normal entry).  You will get the voucher from me at Flamongland on the Saturday.

Andy
